  • Patent number: 11293682
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for transferring heat to and from multiple objects. Such a method entails placing objects in a vessel that contains a heat transfer fluid so that the objects contact the heat transfer fluid. The heat transfer fluid is at a temperature that is different from the temperature of the object, and is induced to circulate along a continuous flowpath. Each object is at least partially disposed in the flowpath of the heat transfer fluid, and each object is individually rotated about an axis of rotation thereof. The heat transfer fluid continues to circulate and the objects continue to rotate for a time sufficient to cause the temperatures of the objects to become closer to the heat transfer fluid temperature.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 26, 2019
Date of Patent: April 5, 2022
    Assignee: Purdue Research Foundation
Inventors: Mitchell Anthony LoVerde, David Stephen Page, Kyle Chang Ma, Scott Robert Lancaster, Christopher James Mead

  • Patent number: 8844818
Abstract: A magnetic stripe reader including a magnetic reader head providing at least one data output, an F2F decoder receiving the at least one data output and providing a decoded data output, a microprocessor receiving and processing the decoded data output and power saving circuitry operative to control the operation of the F2F decoder and the microprocessor thereby to maintain the F2F decoder and the microprocessor in a power-saving sleep mode other than during magnetic stripe reading by the magnetic reader head and a selected time duration thereafter.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 2013
Date of Patent: September 30, 2014
    Assignee: Verifone, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20040229564
Abstract: A GPS positioner has a rescue call function by integrating a Bluetooth communication interface with the GPS positioner. Given the Bluetooth communication interface, not only may data transmission take place between the GPS positioner and a device having a Bluetooth communication interface as well, but also a rescue call may be sent through the device. The present invention enables the use of a smart phone having a Bluetooth communication interface, so that the smart phone may function as a device for seeking appropriate assistance by sending a rescue request in the form of a message or dialing.
