  • Publication number: 20240368977
Abstract: A system collects a plurality of drill cuttings from a subsurface of a geothermal borehole while drilling the borehole. The system obtains a plurality of thermal conductivity values for the plurality of drill cuttings. The system determines, using the plurality of thermal conductivity values, thermal performance data of the geothermal borehole. In accordance with a determination that the thermal performance data of the geothermal borehole meets or exceeds a threshold value, the system updates, according to the thermal performance data, one or more drilling parameters to one or more updated drilling parameters and controls the drilling of the geothermal borehole according to the one or more updated drilling parameters.

  • Publication number: 20240368945
Abstract: A system for constructing geothermal fields includes a coiled tubing (CT) string, a power source, and an electrically activated bottomhole assembly (BHA) coupled to the CT string. The electrically activated BHA includes an electric motor and a drill bit. The system includes one or more processors and memory. The memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the system to deploy the CT string from a surface into a subsurface for drilling a geothermal borehole, and cause the system to, during the drilling, (i) transfer power from the power source to the electric motor via at least a first portion of the CT string and (ii) transfer electrical current from the electric motor to the electric power source via an electrical conductor that is different from the at least the first portion of the CT string.

  • Patent number: 12089899
Abstract: A virtual or augmented reality system is disclosed which is capable of both (i) evaluating prospective implantable neurostimulator patient candidates, and (ii) determining optimal stimulation settings for already-implanted neurostimulation patients. Physiological sensors are included with the system to provide objective measurements relevant to a patient's symptoms, such as pain in a Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) system. Such objective measurements are determined during the presentation of various virtual or augmented environments, and can be useful to determining which patients are suitable candidates to consider for implantation. Stimulation settings for already-implanted patients may be adjusted while presenting a virtual or augmented environment to the patient, with objective measurements being determined for each stimulation setting. Such objective measurements can then be used to determine optimal stimulation settings for the patient.

  • Patent number: 9455451
Abstract: Water soluble catalysts, (M)meso-tetra(N-Methyl-4-Pyridyl)Porphinepentachloride (M=Fe, Co, Mn & Cu), have been incorporated into the polymer binder of oxygen reduction cathodes in membrane electrode assemblies used in PEM fuel cells and found to support encouragingly high current densities. The voltages achieved are low compared to commercial platinum catalysts but entirely consistent with the behavior observed in electroanalytical measurements of the homogeneous catalysts. A model of the dynamics of the electrode action has been developed and validated and this allows the MEA electrodes to be optimized for any chemistry that has been demonstrated in solution. It has been shown that improvements to the performance will come from modifications to the structure of the catalyst combined with optimization of the electrode structure and a well-founded pathway to practical non-platinum group metal catalysts exists.
