Patent number: 12244929Abstract: A sensor head transitions between a retracted and extended state. While retracted, sensors are covered. While extended, the sensors are exposed and may be used to acquire sensor data about the physical space. A force applied by a user, or a received command, may initiate transition. For example, a user may press on the sensor head to initiate retraction or extension. A motor provides a force to move the sensor head and generate haptic feedback, while a position encoder determines a displacement of the sensor head due to an external force being applied. Different applications of force by the user to the sensor head may result in different operations by the device. For example, a short push may retract the sensor head and disable the sensors for a specified time interval. In comparison a long push may retract the sensor head and disable the sensors until a specified clock time.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2022Date of Patent: March 4, 2025Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Michael Risley, Michael L. Patent number: 12192760Abstract: A method is disclosed. The method includes receiving a broadcast signal from a beacon device, the broadcast signal encoding a first credential associated with a first entity. In response to receipt of the broadcast signal, the mobile communication device transmits the received first credential to an authentication system. The authentication system determines if the first entity associated with the broadcast signal is authentic and generates a confirmation message confirming the authenticity of the first entity. The mobile communication device then receives the confirmation message indicating that the first entity is authentic. The mobile communication thereafter receives and transmits a second credential for the mobile communication device to the beacon device, which transmits the second credential to the authentication system. The authentication system then confirms the authenticity of the mobile communication device.Type: GrantFiled: December 7, 2022Date of Patent: January 7, 2025Assignee: Visa International Service AssociationInventors: Quan Wang, Kyle Crouse

Patent number: 11097937Abstract: An ordering app running on a mobile device, one or more central servers, one or more venue servers, one or more ordering apps, plug-ins, kiosks, point of sale systems, beacons, pucks, tents, and automated appliances cooperate to prepare orders for a customer. Methods embodied as software programs running on the venue servers and the central servers advance the customer's order through various modules hosted on the venue server. A final module causes the customer's order to be prepared.Type: GrantFiled: May 4, 2020Date of Patent: August 24, 2021Assignee: RESTAURANT TECHNOLOGY INC.Inventors: Michael Burks, Michael Beebe, Laura Ermer, Vijan Bhaumik, Angelo Frigo, Kyle Crouse, Roger D. Patent number: 10902263Abstract: A device includes a camera and an image processing system. A first identity of a first object represented in a first image is determined. The first image is captured at a first time. A first geographical location of the camera and a second geographical location of the first object are determined at the first time. A second identity of a second object represented in a second image is determined. The second image is captured at a second time. A third geographical location of the camera and a fourth geographical location of the second object is determined at the second time. The first object and the second object are determined to be the same when the first identity matches the second identity and the second geographical location is within a threshold distance of the fourth geographical location. The device generates an output message including information about the first object.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 2018Date of Patent: January 26, 2021Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Justin-Joseph Angel, Robert Steven Murdock, Milena Sadée, Kyle Crouse, Eric Alan Breitbard, Dan Jeffrey Wilday, Sche I.
