    Abstract: An inline gearbox for a land vehicle that includes an engine having a clutch housing for the transmission of rotational force from the engine to one or more wheels for propelling the land vehicle, wherein the inline gearbox includes a gearbox housing having a front end, a side and a rear end, with the front end adapted to be joined to the clutch housing. There is an input shaft contained at least in part within the gearbox housing proximate to the front end of the gearbox housing, and a primary gear train that includes (a) a lay shaft; (b) a drive shaft; and (c) a plurality of selectively engaged meshed gear pairs respectively mounted on the lay shaft and the drive shaft for transmitting rotational force from the lay shaft to the drive shaft. The inline gearbox also includes an output shaft contained at least in part within the gearbox housing proximate to the rear end of the gearbox housing, with the output shaft rotationally coupled to the drive shaft.

    Abstract: An exhaust manifold for an internal combustion piston engine having a first row of at least two cylinders inclined relative to a vertical plane and a second row of at least two cylinders inclined relative to the vertical plane, where the two rows of cylinders form a V configuration with the vertical plane being approximately equidistant between the two rows. The exhaust manifold in one aspect comprises plural exhaust stack assemblies for receiving exhaust gas from the first row of cylinders, an elongate manifold plenum having a terminal portion defining an exhaust gas passageway, and an exhaust gas routing circuit joined to the manifold plenum. The routing circuit comprises a turbocharger support column and a bypass pipe. The turbocharger support column is joined at a first junction with the manifold plenum, extends in a generally perpendicular direction from the elongate manifold plenum and terminates in a first exhaust gas outlet adapted for connection to a turbocharger.

    Abstract: Intake air systems featuring novel intercooler and air distribution system components. The intercooler component has a rectangular heat exchanger core for cooling air with a liquid, and the heat exchanger core has a first face for entry of uncooled air and a second opposing face for exit of cooled air. A first rectangular intercooler mounting flange structure is secured to the periphery of the first face and a second intercooler rectangular mounting flange structure is secured to the periphery of the second face. The first rectangular intercooler mounting flange structure and the second rectangular intercooler mounting flange structure are of approximately the same size and geometry, and the first rectangular intercooler mounting flange structure and the second rectangular intercooler mounting flange structure have substantially identical plural spaced-apart symmetrically distributed bolt apertures.

    Abstract: An exhaust manifold for an internal combustion piston engine with a row of at least two cylinders inclined from the vertical. The exhaust manifold has plural exhaust stack assemblies and a manifold plenum with an outlet. Each of the plural exhaust stack assemblies comprises a leader pipe and an exhaust connector, with a first end of each leader pipe being joined to a first end of the exhaust connector of the exhaust stack assembly, and a second end of each exhaust connector being joined to the manifold plenum. Each leader pipe is joined to a manifold flange that is adapted for joining to the internal combustion engine to receive exhaust gases from the cylinders of the engine. Each leader pipe is joined in a vertical plane to the manifold flange at a first angle so that the plural exhaust stack assemblies are approximately horizontally oriented when joined to the internal combustion engine, and each leader pipe is joined in a horizontal plane to the manifold flange at a second angle inclined toward the outlet.

    Abstract: An invertible multi-application gearbox having a gearbox housing; a gear drive train within the gearbox housing with an input shaft for transmitting rotational force from an engine to the gear drive train and an output shaft for transmitting rotational force to drive wheels. The gearbox includes a plurality of gear s that are approximately symmetrically distributed about a vertical plane containing the centerline of the input shaft. The output shaft is separated a vertical distance from a horizontal plane containing the centerline of the input shaft. The gearbox housing includes a plurality of mounting location fixtures that are symmetrically disposed around the axial centerline of the input shaft and above and below a lateral plane containing that axial centerline to permit mounting the gearbox to an engine in either an upright or inverted position. A fast-change gear assembly is located on the gearbox housing for easy user access to change the torque transfer characteristics of the gearbox.
