    Abstract: A strengthening member for use with a plug-in module assembly includes a planar portion which extends across a width of a portion of a circuit board of the plug-in module assembly. The planar portion has a leading edge which approximately aligns with a leading surface of the circuit board, a trailing edge, and side edges which extend between the leading edge and the trailing edge. First mounting portions extend from the side edges and have first mounting openings. A second mounting portion extends from the trailing edge and has second mounting openings. First mounting hardware is positioned in the first mounting openings. The first mounting hardware cooperates with the first mounting portions and the circuit board. Second mounting hardware is positioned in the second mounting openings. The second mounting hardware cooperates with the second mounting portions, the circuit board and a cover of the plug-in module assembly.

    Abstract: A contact insulator for use with high speed cable with differential pairs of contacts. A contact receiving portion has contact receiving slots which open from a first side of the contact insulator. A conductor receiving portion has conductor receiving slots which open from a second side of the contact insulator. A transition portion is positioned between the contact receiving portion and the conductor receiving portion. The transition portion has a contact receiving opening which extends through the contact insulator. The contact receiving opening is dimensioned to allow the contacts to be inserted therethrough. The contact insulator is rotated about the contacts and the signal conductors to position the contacts in the contact receiving slots through the first side of the contact insulator and position the signal conductor in the conductor receiving slots through the second side of the contact insulator.

The leading surface of the guide module extends beyond a leading end of the plug-in module assembly. As the plug-in module is inserted into the chassis, the leading surface of the guide module prevents damage to other components of the plug-in module assembly.

Second ground contacts are positioned in the second connector housing. The second ground contacts are positioned between side surfaces of the second modules and respective signal contacts of the signal contacts. The second ground pathways engage the second ground contacts of the second modules to balance the differential pairs of signal pathways to optimize impedance and shielding of the signal pathways.
