Patent number: 8510870Abstract: A helmet, adjustable longitudinally and laterally to fit a variety of head configurations, includes an outer shell having front and a rear shell parts, which are movably joined with one another, and an adjuster. The rear outer shell and/or the front outer shell can include first and second lateral shell portions separated by a slot. The adjuster can move the first and second lateral shell portions away from one another from a narrowed mode to a widened mode to increase the lateral dimension of the helmet. Simultaneously, the adjuster can move the front and/or rear shell to increase the longitudinal dimension of the helmet as the first and second lateral shell portions move from a narrowed mode to a widened mode. A method is also provided for effecting the longitudinal and lateral adjustments of the helmet.Type: GrantFiled: August 26, 2009Date of Patent: August 20, 2013Assignee: Warrior Sports, Inc.Inventors: David C. Rogers, Kyle L. Lamson, Neil E. Wensley, Kyle A. Walters

Patent number: 8016701Abstract: A lacrosse head includes sidewalls having an open frame construction. The sidewalls include an upper rail and a lower rail, along with a cross member joined with the upper rail and the lower rail. The cross member defines multiple holes corresponding to multiple pocket configurations so that a user can attach a lacrosse net to selected ones of the holes and achieve a desired pocket profile. Optionally, at least one of the upper and lower rails can be void of any string holes. Further optionally, the cross member can branch into one or more secondary members that also define string holes to provide additional pocket profiles. Even further optionally, the holes defined by the cross member can be of polygonal shape.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2009Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Warrior Sports, Inc.Inventors: Kyle L. Lamson, Adam D. Paquette

Patent number: 7992228Abstract: Protective eyewear includes a frame having a first and second opposing sides and an eye protector joined with the frame. A flexible strap is joined with the first and second sides of the frame. The strap extends around at least a portion of a player's head to position the eye protector over the player's eyes. A connector is rotatably joined with the first side of the frame so that the connector rotates in a plane generally parallel to a temple of the player. The connector is joined with the strap so that the strap can rotate relative to the frame and includes a limiter that limits the rotation of the connector. A strap diverter is adjustably positioned along the strap and divides the strap into first and second strap portions that extend at an angle relative to one another and define a space therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2009Date of Patent: August 9, 2011Assignee: Warrior Sports, Inc.Inventors: Eduard U. Milea, Kyle L. Lamson

Patent number: 7972227Abstract: A lacrosse handle including a gripping structure that provides a user with an improved grip of the handle. The gripping structure can provide tactile feedback regarding the precise positioning of the lower hand at a particular location between the top end and bottom end of the handle. Optionally, the upper portion of the lacrosse handle may remain substantially bare, allowing a user to easily position and reposition their upper hand by sliding the hand up and down the upper portion of the handle during play. The gripping structure can be formed having one or more layers of a clear lacquer material and one or more ink layers applied to the outer surface of the handle via a wet transfer technique, or other processes.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 2009Date of Patent: July 5, 2011Assignee: Warrior Sports, Inc.Inventor: Kyle L. Lamson

Patent number: 7931548Abstract: A lacrosse stick including a lacrosse head attached to a handle, wherein the lacrosse head has a taller, or thicker, ball stop, wherein a portion of the ball stop portion is lowered with respect to the immediately adjacent portions of the sidewall portions relative to a centerline of the handle. The net securing structures in the ball stop are preferably located in the lowered portion and therein provides increased ball retention characteristics. The lower portion of the ball stop portion includes a concave inner surface that is preferably flared, or sloped, slightly outwardly along its interior surface from its front side to its back side. The openings for attaching the netting in the ball stop are preferably slightly recessed with respect to the upper surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2010Date of Patent: April 26, 2011Assignee: Warrior Sports, Inc.Inventors: Kyle L. Lamson, Alexander P. Reynolds
