  • Patent number: 9342320
Abstract: A computer software system is disclosed for single step coordination between software applications. A monitoring application automatically identifies a target application and presents a prompting window, such that if possible (but not necessarily) it appears to be attached to a side of the target window. Clicking a control in the prompting window automatically activates a secondary application, and automatically transfers information from the target application to the secondary application. Target desktop windows can be identified by their window captions and target HTML windows by their URL addresses. Controls on prompting windows can activate multiple secondary applications and/or different secondary application modes. Information can be obtained from a target application by reading a file stored for that purpose by the target application, by interprocess communication, or by screen scraping.

  • Publication number: 20090216557
Abstract: A software system is disclosed having pop-up windows that efficiently deliver informational and/or actionable messages that provide access to medical test results and related information. The otherwise invisible software receives and displays the messages on a computer where a medical professional can immediately access test results and related information. A pop-up window can include controls that delete messages and/or close the window, and can also include codes used to access medical test results, and/or hyperlinks that automatically open separate windows to display medical test results, context information, and/or other related information. Message elements can be arranged in columns and can be sorted by selecting column headers. In preferred embodiments, the medical professional provides identifying information so that only messages directed to the medical professional are displayed, and in some embodiments displayed messages and responding actions are logged.

  • Publication number: 20050005202
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for proactively monitoring a healthcare information system. The monitor system has a plurality of counters and one or more notification agents. Counters monitor performance parameters by recording the values of the parameters at a predetermined interval. Multiple counter instances may be implemented. Agents notify designated representatives when the value of a counter exceeds a threshold. Notifications may be escalated as needed. The proactive monitor system may further include an operator capable of performing fixes to bring the value of the counter back within the threshold. Two user interfaces may be included, connecting to a customer support system and a user of the healthcare information system, respectively. The proactive detection, notification, and repair of business or system failures may be performed manually or automatically, onsite or over a network.
