  • Patent number: 10828193
Abstract: A phacoemulsification system and method, and a surgical foot pedal device, system and method. The present invention may include a console comprising a plurality of modes for at least one physically associated surgical instrument, and a foot pedal communicatively associated with said console and suitable for varying ones of the plurality of modes. The foot pedal may include a housing comprising the communicative association, and comprising at least one potentiometer and at least two top switches for the varying of the ones of the plurality of modes, a treadle rotatably mounted within the housing and suitable for depressing the at least one potentiometer, and at least two side switches movably associated with the treadle for the varying of the ones of the plurality of modes.

  • Publication number: 20190197892
Abstract: A flood warning system has a gauge unit adapted to be positioned adjacent to a waterway and a display adapted to be positioned away from the waterway and adjacent to a roadway. The gauge unit has a plurality of sensors arranged in vertically-spaced relation within a housing of the gauge unit. The housing has a fluid inlet adapted to allow water to enter the housing when a level of water in the waterway raises above a low position. The plurality of sensors are adapted to detect a level of water within the housing of the gauge unit. The display has a warning indicator thereon. The display is cooperative with the gauge unit such that the warning indicator is actuated when the level of water in the housing of the gauge unit is above one of the plurality of sensors.

  • Patent number: 10327948
Abstract: A medical device fluid sensing system in provided. The system includes a transmitter array positioned in association with a fluid maintaining device, such as a reservoir in a cassette. Electrical circuitry is connected to the transmitter array and configured to cause the transmitter array to transmit light energy at a predetermined wavelength and producing a desired absorption coefficient based on expected conditions within the fluid maintaining device. The system also includes a receiver array configured to receive light energy transmitted through the fluid maintaining device and originating from the transmitter array, and a controller configured to determine fluid level in the fluid maintaining device based on conditions sensed by the receiver array. In one embodiment, three transmitters and three matching sensors are provided in a surgical cassette, and when optical energy having predetermined characteristics is provided to the transmitter array, the presence or absence of fluid is determined.

  • Publication number: 20180216985
Abstract: A flood warning system for providing persons with an advance warning of a flooded area has a gauge unit positioned in a waterway, a control unit configured to receive signals transmitted by the gauge unit in order to determine whether a condition of the waterway is safe, and a warning light unit positioned remotely from the gauge unit in a path adjacent to a roadway ahead of the waterway. The gauge unit has one or more sensors in a housing that measure a water level is water enters or exits the housing and a signal transmitter cooperative with the gauge unit that transmits a signal in response to a pre-defined water level being reached. The warning light includes a light illuminated in response to the gauge unit measuring a current water level is flooding the roadway.

  • Publication number: 20170352266
Abstract: An alert system is disclosed providing motorists an alert in advance of flood areas being flooded. The disclosed system provides real-time information on water levels adjacent or on top of roadways. As water levels enter a gauge unit, a signal from the gauge unit is sent to trigger a warning light that motorists or pedestrians can see from the roadway before reaching an area of the roadway that maybe flooded. The embodiments disclosed may prevent loss of life and avoid costly automotive repairs due to water damage.

  • Patent number: 9386922
Abstract: A system and method of receiving a cassette to a console of a phacoemulsification system. The system and method may include receiving the cassette in close proximity to a cassette receptacle comprising a receiving surface, sensing variations in at least two variable resistances mounted respectively diagonally about the receiving surface, and comparing the variations as between the at least two variable resistances to assess an attitude of the cassette. The system and method may optionally include clamping the cassette responsively to the comparing step.
