  • Patent number: 11986630
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments attempt to identify impending hypoglycemia and/or hyperglycemia and take measures to prevent the hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. Exemplary embodiments may provide a drug delivery system for delivering insulin and glucagon as needed by a user of the drug delivery system. The drug delivery system may deploy a control system that controls the automated delivery of insulin and glucagon to a patient by the drug delivery system. The control system seeks among other goals to avoid the user experiencing hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia. The control system may employ a clinical decision support algorithm as is described below to control delivery of insulin and glucagon to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia and to provide alerts to the user when needed. The control system assesses whether the drug delivery system can respond enough to avoid hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia and generates alerts when manual action is needed to avoid hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia.

  • Publication number: 20240083302
Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to a battery bank and techniques for managing batteries of the battery bank. For example, the battery bank may include at least a primary battery and a secondary battery. In various embodiments, processor(s) of a primary battery management system (BMS) of the primary battery may monitor battery diagnostic information for the battery bank, receive an indication to charge the battery bank from a central controller that is communicatively coupled to the battery bank, select a given battery to be charged from among at least the primary battery and the secondary battery, and cause the given battery to be charged. In various embodiments, the primary BMS may be internal to the primary battery. In various embodiments, the secondary battery may include a corresponding secondary BMS to communicate with the primary BMS to enable the processor(s) of the primary BMS to monitor the battery diagnostic information.

  • Publication number: 20220169828
Abstract: Polymer compositions for making a stabilized polymeric articles that are resistant to discoloration upon exposure to UV-C light having: (i) an organic polymeric material; and (ii) a hindered phenol, organic phosphite, or a combination thereof, with the provisos that: (a) the OH group on the aromatic ring of the hindered phenol is flanked by two tertiary hydrocarbyl groups, and (b) the organic phosphite does not have any —OAr group linked directly to the P atom of the phosphite, wherein Ar represents an unsubstituted or substituted aryl group, are provided herein. Reduced discoloration is associated with the use of specific hindered phenols and the organic phosphites compared to other hindered phenols and organic phosphites, even in the absence of other polymer additives including UV absorbers, hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), metal oxides and/or barium salts.

  • Publication number: 20220169829
Abstract: Polymer compositions for making stabilized polymeric articles that are resistant to at least one deleterious effect of discoloration, cracking, or crazing upon exposure to UV-C (190-280 nm) light are provided herein, wherein the polymer compositions include: (i) an organic polymeric material; and (ii) a stabilizer composition comprising: an antioxidant selected from the group consisting of hindered phenols, phosphites and phosphonites, and mixtures thereof; and a light stabilizer selected from the group consisting of hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), UV absorbers (UVA), hindered benzoates, and mixtures thereof, even where barium compounds (such as barium salts) are absent from the stabilizer composition, and with the proviso that the HALS is not bis(2,2,6,6,-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl) sebacate (TINUVIN™ 770) alone.
