  • Publication number: 20200119570
Abstract: A recharging system includes a contact pad charger having a compressible contact pad conformable to a rechargeable device body for charging a power storage device in the rechargeable device body. The contact pad charger includes a power supply configured to provide a supply voltage. The compressible contact pad is electrically coupled to the power supply and defines a first variable resistance in response to a first conductor compression. The rechargeable device body includes a power manager electrically coupled to the power supply and is configured to receive a variable input voltage in response to a first variable voltage drop across the first conductor and to provide a regulated output voltage in response to the received variable input voltage. The regulated output voltage is less than the supply voltage. The power storage device is electrically coupled to the power manager and configured to receive the regulated output voltage for charging.

  • Publication number: 20200092632
Abstract: Various embodiments of a hearing device and a system of using such device are disclosed. The hearing device includes a housing, electronic components disposed within the housing, and an earpiece adapted to be disposed in an ear canal of the ear of the wearer. The device also includes a sensor adapted to be in contact with a portion of the ear of the wearer, where the sensor is further adapted to detect a physiological characteristic of the wearer and generate a sensor signal based on the physiological characteristic that is received by a controller of the electronic components disposed within the housing; and a cable that operatively connects the sensor to the earpiece, where the cable is biased to maintain contact between the sensor and the portion of the ear of the wearer when the earpiece is disposed in the ear canal of the wearer.

  • Patent number: 10409545
Abstract: A first device receives a bit sequence from a second device via a serial communication cable having one or more wires that connect the first device to a first set of one or more pins of a first chip of the second device. The first chip has a second set of pins. For each respective pin of the second set of pins, the bit sequence includes a set of one or more bits for the respective pin that are based at least in part on whether a first voltage or a second voltage is applied to the respective pin. The first device determines, based on the bit sequence, a type of the second device.

  • Publication number: 20190117155
Abstract: An electronic device comprises an enclosure configured for insertion into the ear canal and comprising a distal end configured to extend at least beyond a first bend of the ear canal. A distal temperature sensor is situated at a location of the enclosure that faces a tragus-side of the ear canal between the first and second bends when the enclosure is fully inserted into the ear canal. A proximal temperature sensor is situated on the enclosure at a location spaced apart from a surface of the ear canal and proximal of the distal temperature sensor in an outer ear direction when the enclosure is fully inserted into the ear canal. A processor, coupled to the distal and proximal temperature sensors and to memory, is configured to calculate an absolute core body temperature using a heat balance equation stored in the memory and the first and second temperature signals.
