  • Patent number: 9761111
Abstract: Individual agricultural assets at a remote location are each equipped with at least one condition sensor in communication with a location-based controlling transceiver, which in turn communicates with a central monitoring system. The transceiver will monitor data received from the condition sensors and in accordance with predetermined notification parameters will send a signal to the central monitoring system only when a notification condition, for example an elevated temperature reading in the instance of a grain bin, is detected. By only communicating when a transmission bandwidth requirements between the transceiver and the central monitoring system are minimized. Further transmission bandwidth reduction can be achieved by limiting the notification condition parameters limiting transceiver packet. Various conditions including temperature, gas levels or presence, volume or other conditions of various types of assets could be monitored remotely in this way.

  • Publication number: 20170140184
Abstract: A tracking system is capable of tracking a history of an agricultural asset transferred among a plurality of asset receiving devices using a communications network. The system uses radio-frequency identification tags intermixed with the agricultural asset. A main server, in communication with the network, stores the tag identification of each tag therein. A controller associated with each asset receiving device includes a controller identification, a receiving component for receiving the identification of the tags within the respective asset receiving device, and a transmitting component for transmitting the tag identifications to the main server together with the controller identification. The main server stores a historical record in association with each tag identification that primarily consists of the controller identification of each controller which has transmitted the tag identification to the main server with the respective controller identification associated therewith.

  • Patent number: 9398445
Abstract: In a method of communicating between a central server and a plurality of assets over a cellular network in communication with the central server, each asset has a transceiver arranged to communicate with the cellular network which includes an integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID) and an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI). The ICCID of each transceiver is unique, but the IMSI of multiple transceivers are identical to one another. Communication between the assets and the central server is initiated by the asset transceivers and is rescheduled automatically in the event that another transceiver with the same IMSI is already communicating with the central server. Communication from the server to the asset transceivers involves queuing data until the transceiver of the intended recipient transceiver contacts the central server.

  • Publication number: 20140172360
Abstract: A method of volumetric monitoring for individual remotely located storage bins, in which a plurality of non-volumetric bin sensors are deployed for temperature or other monitoring. By monitoring the contact of particulate material stored within the bin with the non-volumetric bin sensors deployed therein, in relation to the positioning of those sensors within the height of the bin, the approximate level of filling of the storage bin can be monitored remotely by connecting the sensors to a location-based transceiver, which in turn communicates with a central monitoring system. The transceiver will monitor data received from the bin sensors and in accordance with predetermined notification conditions may send a signal to the central monitoring system when a notification condition, such as a depleted storage level within the bin, is detected.
