  • Publication number: 20230399520
Abstract: A method is disclosed for us in additively manufacturing a three-dimensional carbon-bonded composite article. The method may include discharging from a print head a curable composition. The curable composition may include a) at least one aromatic, actinically curable component having an H/Catomic ratio of from 0.4 to 1.6, selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylate oligomers, epoxy-functionalized compounds, oxetane-functionalized compounds and mixtures thereof; and b) at least one diluent comprising at least one actinically curable monomer. The curable composition may also include c) a reinforcement, and d) a photoinitiator. The method may further include irradiating the curable composition during the discharging to at least partially actinically cure the curable composition and form a preform of the three-dimensional carbon-bonded composite article. The method also includes pyrolyzing the preform to form the three-dimensional printed carbon-bonded composite article.

  • Publication number: 20230391936
Abstract: An actinically curable composition includes at least one aromatic, actinically curable component a), at least one actinically curable monomer b) as a diluent, an opaque reinforcement c) and at least one photoinitiator d). After curing and upon pyrolysis, the actinically curable composition may provide more than 18 weight % char, by weight of the component a), the actinically curable monomer b) and the photoinitiator d) after curing. The opaque reinforcement may be continuous fibers. A method of making a three dimensionally printed carbon bonded composite article from the actinically curable composition using digital light projection, stereolithography or multi jet printing is also provided.

  • Patent number: 11738252
Abstract: A method and apparatus for determining the precise location of a target on a surface by utilizing a plurality of objects that are fixed in their position proximate to the location, thereby constituting a plurality of fixed reference points, upon which the target(s) resides or is otherwise located. The plurality of fixed references points are used either in conjunction with images of the target or certain distance measurements between the target and the fixed reference points to determine the precise location of the target(s) on the surface.

  • Publication number: 20220298131
Abstract: Glycerol carbonate methacrylate may be prepared by reacting glycerol monomethacrylate and a carbonate such as a dialkyl carbonate in the presence of a catalyst and may be combined with an actinic radiation-curable oligomer, such as a (meth)acrylate-functionalized oligomer, and possibly other components to provide compositions capable of being cured, for example by exposure to actinic radiation, to obtain polymeric materials, such as 3D printed articles. The glycerol carbonate methacrylate reduces the viscosity of the composition, which may in the absence of the glycerol carbonate methacrylate be too high for the curable composition to be readily processed at room temperature, but additionally can impart a variety of other useful attributes to the curable compositions and cured products derived therefrom.

  • Publication number: 20220213245
Abstract: Composite materials are formed by photo curing compositions containing one or more cyanoacrylates, substantial amounts of one or more fillers (in particular, opaque and/or fibrous fillers such as carbon fibers) as well as particular photoinitiator systems. The photoinitiator system may comprise, for example, a metallocene compound such as a ferrocene in combination with an acylgermane or other photocleavable compound which generates an acyl radical when exposed to light. Complete, deep curing of such compositions to provide composite materials having improved mechanical properties can be achieved, even though the light used to initiate curing may not be capable of penetrating the entire thickness of the composition due to the presence of the filler.

Abstract: A putting stroke apparatus and method is provided that determines and simulates the proper putting stroke using at least an aiming direction and initial ball speed for successfully making a particular putt based on particular putting green characteristics and the location of the golf hole on the putting green. A pendulum putter apparatus is coupled with a putting diagnostic tool wherein the putting diagnostic tool determines at least an aiming direction and initial ball speed for a particular putt using inputs such as: (i) topographic information (e.g., contours) specific to the green; (ii) the green speed at a particular time; (iii) the golf hole location (i.e., the physical location of the golf hole); and (iv) the golf ball location on the green (i.e., the physical location of the golf ball).
