  • Patent number: 10173700
Abstract: A top of rail (TOR) applicator has a bar positioned in a housing and an exit orifice on the upper portion of the bar for delivering a friction control composition to the crown of a railhead. The upper portion of the bar slopes away from the friction control composition exit orifice. The bar may be composed of an elastomer such as polyurethane. A passageway may extend from an inlet port to the exit orifice. The friction reduction composition is pumped into the inlet port, through the passageway to the exit orifice and then onto the crown of the railhead. The friction reduction composition may be thixotropic.

  • Patent number: 9500832
Abstract: An optical fiber strand holding tool is disclosed for organizing and retaining splice sleeves and fibers from a first fiber bundle during, and optionally after, a splicing activity in which the first bundle is spliced to a second fiber bundle. The apparatus and associated method provide a means of removably securing splice sleeves in an orderly fashion, preventing movement and contamination of the bare fibers during splicing. Magnets and clamping pressure are used separately or in conjunction to provide the retention force. A removable splice retaining portion permits permanent optical joint storage and protection, and reduces handling of the optical joints. Color coded splice sleeves and splice channels are employed for quick matching between fibers in fiber bundle pairs being spliced.

  • Publication number: 20160050492
Abstract: A direct-drive digital audio amplifier for electrostatic loudspeakers (ESL) includes a pulse-width-modulation (PWM) generator that generates a PWM signal from a digital audio signal received from an audio source. The generated PWM signal is amplified to a high voltage, such as several hundred volts, by a high-voltage switching circuit. The amplified PWM signal is then applied to the stator panels of the electrostatic loudspeaker (ESL), whereupon the amplified PWM signal is low-pass filtered by the electrostatic loudspeaker to generate audible sound waves, which are then high-pass filtered by a listener's ears, so as to audibly reproduce the digital audio signal.

  • Patent number: 8910485
Abstract: The present application provides a stoichiometric exhaust gas recovery turbine system. The stoichiometric exhaust gas recovery turbine system may include a main compressor for compressing a flow of ambient air, a turbine, and a stoichiometric exhaust gas recovery combustor. The stoichiometric exhaust gas recovery combustor may include a combustion liner, an extended flow sleeve in communication with the main compressor, and an extraction port in communication with the turbine. The extended flow sleeve receives the flow of ambient air from the main compressor so as to cool the combustion liner and then the flow of ambient air splits into an extraction flow to the turbine via the extraction port and a combustion flow within the combustion liner.
