    Abstract: An ignition apparatus which determines ignition timing corresponding to the running state of an internal combustion engine. Ignition timing is advanced for a period when a choke switch 21 used for improving startability of the engine at a low temperature is closed, and for a predetermined period after the choke switch is opened as determined by the time constant of an RC circuit. When the predetermined period passes after the choke switch is opened, the ignition timing is delayed to a characteristic suitable for the running of the engine after warm up.
