    Abstract: A new micro-porous membrane having a layer of minimum pores inside is disclosed. This membrane can be produced by a kind of dry-wet method in which a gas is in contact with the surface of the spread solution before it is immersed in a solidifying bath to form a coacervation phase only in the surface layer of the spread solution. It is quite important to control the amount of non-solvent for a utilized polymer contained in the gas as well as a blowing rate of the gas toward the above mentioned surface. The micro-porous membrane of the present invention not only has an improved filtration flow rate and life as a filter, but also the risk of being damaged by scratches is minimized.

    Abstract: There is provided a magnetic recording material produced by coating on a support a magnetic coating composition which contains as main components a magnetic powder and a binder, the binder comprising an urethane acrylate synthesized using a polyester polyol having a particular structure, and by irradiating the resulting magnetic coat with electron beams to harden it. The polyester polyol contains polyhydric alcohol component, 50 mole % or more of which is a dihydric alcohol selected from the class (A) described below, and/or polybasic acid component, 50 mole % or more of which is a dibasic acid selected from the class (B) described below. The urethane acrylate is synthesized under such a condition that it may have two or more of (meth)acryloyl groups per molecule. Thus, improvements in electromagnetic properties and in durability are attained.

The composition is comprised of 50 to 400 parts by weight of a compound having 2 or more acryloyl groups or methacryloyl groups in the molecule and 100 parts by weight of a mixture of 20 to 80 parts by weight of a thermoplastic resin having a thermal deformation temperature of 70.degree. C. or more and 20 to 80 parts by weight of a rubber type resin. The material has excellent electromagnetic properties after repeated use. Further, the medium has high physical strength and excellent wear resistance.

The binder composition is cured by an electron beam and comprises a copolymer, a urethane resin and a compound having two or more acryloyl groups or methacryloyl groups. The copolymer may be a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-vinyl alcohol copolymer having a vinyl alcohol content of 1 to 15 wt % or a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate-maleic acid copolymer having a maleic acid content of 1 to 10 wt %. The recording medium has excellent electromagnetic properties and the magnetic layer has excellent dynamic properties.

    Abstract: A magnetic recording medium having a thin magnetic film on a non-magnetic support base is disclosed. A layer of a compound which contains at least two isocyanate groups is formed in connection with the medium, and may be formed on either the surface of the metal film or the surface of the base opposite the metal film, or both. The resulting medium has excellent running properties, wear resistance and electro-to-magnetic conversion characteristics which are maintained after repeated use. The medium is formed by providing a non-magnetic support base surface and coating that surface with a thin magnetic metal film by use of a process such as vapor deposition. A solution of a compound containing at least two isocyanate groups is then applied to the medium within a solvent after which a heat treatment is carried out, thus forming the layer of compound containing the isocyanate groups.
