  • Patent number: 5911130
Abstract: An audio signal is compressed and decompressed. The audio signal is sampled per regular sampling interval to obtain sampled values. The sampled values are orthogonal-transformed per constant period to obtain sequential orthogonal transfer functions. Feature points are extracted that represent change in coefficient intensity of the orthogonal transfer functions per constant frequency interval. Coefficient intensity data, frequency data, and time data of the feature points are obtained. The orthogonal transfer functions are reproduced by interpolating the coefficient intensity of the orthogonal transfer functions on the basis of the coefficient intensity data, frequency data, and time data. The reproduced orthogonal transfer functions are inverse orthogonal-transformed to reproduce the sampled values. And, the reproduced sampled values are converted into the audio signal.

  • Patent number: 5647024
Abstract: A method of compressing and decompressing a multi-dimensional image. Video data including luminance data distributed at least in two-dimensions is compressed for subsequent coding. The resulting codes are decompressed to reproduce the video data. A specific number of representative pixels are extracted from a plurality of pixels consisting of the digital signal of the video data. Texture data is also extracted from the digital signal of the video data. The representative pixels and the texture data are coded. The coded representative pixels and the texture data are then decoded. The video data is reproduced using the decoded representative pixels and the texture data.

  • Patent number: 5583794
Abstract: A multidimensional image compression and decompression system wherein, during compression, regardless of how high or low the pixel density is in an image used as an object for processing image data, compressed image data is obtained by extracting only characteristic points included in the image. During decompression, luminance data of pixels except those corresponding to characteristic points are determined by an interpolational plane or solid body which in turn is determined by a plurality of adjacent characteristic points when a position and luminance value of the characteristic points are used for transmission, recording and restoration of images, with respect to image data distributed in two-dimensions and three-dimension when a time base is included. Therefore, it is possible to decompress the multidimensional compressed image using only a short calculation time.

  • Patent number: 5293580
Abstract: A multi-dimensional image compression & decompression method that can compress and decompress image information at high efficiency in the case of image that have different numbers of picture elements on the sending and receiving sides and for image information such as three-dimensional brightness information and the like that includes two-dimensional brightness information and a time axis, extracts local maximum brightness points and local minimum brightness points and sudden change points makes them characteristic points of the image, and uses the local maximum brightness points and local minimum brightness points and sudden change points for the transfer, recording and regeneration of the image. In addition, an apparatus configured so as to include a resistor mesh is used when there is the regeneration of the image, so that the calculations for the decompression of multi-dimensional images are facilitated.

  • Patent number: 4639782
Abstract: A video signal processing apparatus processes a video signal which is obtained by carrying out a dot interlaced scanning in terms of four fields so that picture element data which correspond to one field and in which the picture element data of first and third dot interlaced fields (or second and fourth dot interlaced fields) alternately exist on each line are transmitted during a time period of one field. The video signal processing apparatus comprises a luminance difference detecting part and an interpolation part. The luminance difference detecting part performs a detecting operation to detect a luminance difference between two luminance data which are belonged respectively to two mutually adjacent picture elements in the same line and are among the picture element data which correspond to one field.

  • Patent number: 4609993
Abstract: In a graphic display system a plurality of sets of first, second and third geometrical digital signals and a pictorial signal are stored in a memory and read therefrom at the raster speed of a display unit into plural latches with which plural interpolators are respectively associated. The first and second signals represent the gradients of the planes of a solid object with respect to the two axes of a coordinate system respectively, and the third signal represents the depth of a point lying on each edge of the object. Each interpolator converts the first gradient signal from the associated latch to a corresponding voltage and includes a proportioning circuit that scales the voltage as a function of the second gradient signal and as a function of a fourth signal representing the location of a scan point. Proportioned signals from the interpolators are summed respectively with the associated third signals to indicate the instantaneous values of the depths of the planes as a function of the raster scan.
