  • Patent number: 6555202
Abstract: A tempered glass sheet having a sufficient strength needed for a windowpane and can be utilized for smoothing a surface of the window is provided. A tempered glass sheet of the present invention, produced by tempering a glass sheet, has a stepped portion of reduced thickness relative to the thickness of the glass sheet in at least a part of a peripheral portion of the tempered glass sheet. By the stepped portion, a thin portion and a thick portion are formed. A difference in thickness between the thin portion and the thick portion is 0.5 mm or more, and the thickness of the thin portion is thicker than half the thickness of the thick portion.

  • Patent number: 6479112
Abstract: A glass panel, its manufacturing method and a spacer for use in the glass panel. In the glass panel, a plurality of spacers (3) are formed between and along a first opposing face (2A) of a first glass sheet (1A) and a second opposing face (2B) of a second glass sheet (1B) so as to form a space (C) therebetween, and a sealing material (6) is provided at peripheral edge (1a) of the first glass sheet (1A) and the second glass sheet (1B) for maintaining the space (C) gas-tight. The plurality of such spacers (3) having, at one side thereof, contact portions (5) capable of coming into contact with the first opposing face (2A) are provided on the second opposing face (2B). The contact portions (5) and the first opposing face (2A) are movable relative to each other.

  • Publication number: 20020110653
Abstract: A glass panel including a pair of first and second glass sheets (1A, 1B) disposed with sheet faces thereof opposed to each other, a plurality of spacers (5) being interposed between the pair of glass sheets (1A, 1B) for forming a space (4) therebetween; and a sealing material (S) for bonding peripheral edges (3) of the glass sheets (1A, 1B) together for sealing the space (4), the sealing material having a lower fusing temperature than the softening point of the glass sheets (1A, 1B). Each spacer (5) is formed by disposing spacer-forming paste (11) in a predetermined shape on the sheet face of the glass sheet (1A, 1B). Or, the spacer (5) comprises a plurality of spacer bodies (51) two-dimensionally interconnected to each other via a connecting member (52).

  • Patent number: 6361849
Abstract: A bent glass sheet for a vehicle window of the present invention has a roughened region for eliminating distortion of transmitted light through the bent glass sheet. The bent glass sheet comprises a main surface surrounded by an edge of the bent glass sheet and the main surface has a smooth transparent region. The main surface also has the roughened region that covers at least a portion of a peripheral region of the main surface and in the portion of the peripheral area the roughened region extends at least 3 mm from the edge of the bent glass sheet. The roughened region covers an area in which the transmitted light are distorted. Therefore, the discomfort of passengers due to distortion of transmitted light is relieved.

  • Patent number: 4996622
Abstract: A magnetic disk in which a texture is formed in a first region spaced apart from an opening formed in a glass substrate by a predetermined distance, and a lubricant is coated on only the texture. The texture is not formed in a second region serving as a data surface, and an undercoating film, a magnetic recording film, and a protective film are sequentially coated on the surface of the glass substrate. In this magnetic disk, a floating amount of a magnetic head can be set to be small, and high-density data can be recorded. The data surface can be free from contamination by dust.
