  • Patent number: 5426337
Abstract: A small-sized electric motor includes a yoke formed by bending a rectangular metallic plate into an oval shaped tube having a pair of flat parts and a pair of arcuate parts and joining opposite ends of the metallic plate. An end cap is secured on one end of the yoke and a gear casing is secured to the yoke by a tab formed on another end of the yoke. The joining faces of the metallic plate are located away from the center line of an arcuate part of the yoke and jagged faces are formed on the joining faces. The jagged faces are composed only of curved parts and straight parts having inclinations to the axis of the yoke. The end cap is secured by crimping a bendable tab formed on one end of the yoke by burring. A tab for securing the yoke to a gear box is formed by bending a tongue provided on the metallic plate together with notches on both sides of the tongue.

  • Patent number: 4829437
Abstract: A system and method for automatically controlling a vehicle speed to a desired cruising speed in which after a vehicular engine is set in an acceleration state for the vehicle through an actuator under an acceleration control of the vehicle speed in response to a command operation of an acceleration switch, the vehicular engine is set so that the vehicle speed is reduced and arrives at a set cruising speed at a time of a reset of the command operation of the acceleration switch. At this time, in the vehicle speed controlling system and method, a duration in which the vehicle speed is one abruptly reduced is calculated on the basis of a control duration for which the vehicle speed is in the acceleration state under the acceleration control so that the vehicle speed is smoothly reduced and reaches the set cruising speed.

  • Patent number: 4603316
Abstract: A wiper control system controls an automotive wiper in accordance with rain conditions. Rain conditions are detected by means of a rain sensor which has a vibrator adapted to vibrate at an amplitude corresponding to rain conditions. The vibrator is adapted to produce a sensor signal having an amplitude corresponding to its vibration. The vibrator vibrates at a resonant frequency outside of the audible frequency range and has adequate sensitivity for detecting rain conditions.

  • Patent number: 4584508
Abstract: A rain sensor for an automotive wiper control system detects rain conditions to produce a rain condition indicative signal. The rain sensor includes a vibrator, the outer surface of which is exposed to rain drops and which vibrates or oscillates at an amplitude and frequency corresponding to the energy applied by rain drops. The rain sensor is adapted to produce the rain condition indicative signals corresponding to the vibration amplitude of the vibrator. The vibrator is resiliently suspended within a sensor casing by means of a resilient member which is adapted to allow vibration of the vibrator as rain drops hit the outer surface and to absorb vibrational noises transmitted through the vehicle body. The resilent member simultaneously serves to waterproof the components within the sensor casing.

  • Patent number: 4542325
Abstract: In an automotive windshield wiper control system, a rain sensor provides a rain condition-indicative signal useful in controlling the wiper in its intermittent operation mode. That signal is integrated to yield a value representing rain accumulation on the windshield, and when the integrated value exceeds a given threshold, the wiper is reciprocated once to clear the windshield. In order to prevent arhythmic wiper operation, the signal integrator is disabled during wiper operation so that the integrated value will not approach the threshold too soon after or even before the end of the preceding wiper operation cycle.
