Abstract: According to an embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a scattered light acquisition unit, a control information acquisition unit and a control unit. The scattered light acquisition unit acquires an amount of scattered light included in each pixel of an input image. The control information acquisition unit acquires control information determining an amount of scattered light included in each pixel of an output image. The control unit generates the output image by controlling the amount of the scattered light included in each pixel of the input image based on the control information.

Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a calculation unit. The calculation unit calculates a reliability for each of pixel areas in such a manner that the reliability increases with increasing at least one of (1) a first evaluation value which increases with increasing planarity, in a color space, of a distribution of pixel values in each of the pixel areas, (2) a second evaluation value which increases with increasing wideness of pixel values in each of the pixel areas on an estimated plane approximating the distribution of the pixel values in each of the pixel areas in the color space, and (3) a third evaluation value which increases with decreasing distance between the estimated plane and an origin of the color space.
