  • Patent number: 7024102
Abstract: A method of reproducing first images and second images simultaneously, synchronizing them with each other. The method includes the processes of: reading first image data representing the first images and second image data representing the second images from a recording medium; storing the first image data into a first memory device and storing the second image data into a second memory device; and separately and simultaneously decoding the first image data and the second image data by using a first decoding device and a second decoding device. In this method, each of the first image data and the second image data is divided into a plurality of data units each having an equal time length and an equal data size, and each of the data units of the first image data and each of the data units of the second image data are alternately arranged on the recording medium.

  • Patent number: 6034942
Abstract: An information recording medium is reproduced by an information reproducing apparatus for controlling a reproduction of record information based on a search control information recorded together with the record information. The medium includes: processed record information including a plurality of information units generated by applying a signal processing onto the record information; a search control information for searching, out of the processed record information, a reproduction record unit which is a record unit including the record information to be reproduced. The search control information is multiplexed with the processed record information. The reproduction record unit includes an initial one of the processed record information constituting the information units included in the reproduction record unit which is recorded at a recording position on a recording medium corresponding to a head portion of an area where the processed record information in the reproduction record unit is recorded.

  • Patent number: 5623505
Abstract: An information data detecting apparatus for use in a recording medium playing apparatus detects the presence/absence of information data under software control using an error correction code. The information data detecting apparatus acquires a read signal representing the contents of a specified sector, extracts digital data from the read signal, performs an error-correcting operation on the extracted digital data and produces an error-correctable indicating flag when error correction is possible. When detecting the presence of the error-correctable indicating flag, the information data detecting apparatus produces a written-state signal indicating that the specified sector is used.

  • Patent number: 5587986
Abstract: An on-track detecting apparatus which can accurately detect an on-track state of a disk even in a high speed search in an optical disk apparatus for recording or reproducing data to/from an optical disk having byte patterns of a sample servo. In an on-track detecting circuit in a tracking servo apparatus, a comparator for comparing a mean value of wobble pit signals and a clock pit signal is provided and an on-track signal is generated on the basis of a comparison result of the comparator.

  • Patent number: 5532992
Abstract: A recording and reproducing method of a driving apparatus for a writable type disk, in which a substantial loading time of an optical disk are remarkably reduced and operations are quickly executed in response to a command. At the time of recording of information, after information has been written into an information recording area of a designated address, reading operation of latest defect management information is executed only in a case where the result of a verification reading process of the written information indicates a failure. At the time of reading of the recorded information as well, after the recorded information in the information recording area of the designated address has been read, the reading operation of the latest defect management information is executed only in a case where the read recorded information cannot be reproduced.

  • Patent number: 5392270
Abstract: Disclosed is an information recording/reproducing apparatus using an optical recording medium, which can reproduce information from a recording medium designed to have a high linear recording density, by a method of performing signal separation/extraction by one threshold level in a level detecting process at the time of information reproduction from an optical recording medium with a high linear recording density.

  • Patent number: 5327124
Abstract: A secondary modulation method which replaces any bit excluding the leading bit of consecutive five or more ones in an odd-numbered bit pattern of a train of RLL-modulated data, with a zero to provide a modulated bit pattern having no consecutive zeros. It is therefore possible to form marks of a given width on a disk without any mark edge shift, thus preventing the level of the waveform of a signal read from a disk from falling below the slice level at the position where the waveform of the read signal should show "1". This can ensure the proper data reproduction.

  • Patent number: 4845571
Abstract: In a programmed reproduction system provided for a still picture recording/reproduction device in accordance with the present invention, a plurality of groups of data are recorded on a recording disk by a disk recording/reproduction means; a program indicating the sequence of reproduction of the plurality of groups of data is recorded in a prescribed recording position on the recording disk by the disk recording/reproduction means; the program recorded in the prescribed recording position is read by the disk recording/reproduction means in response to a command; and still pictures are reproduced from the plurality of groups of data in the sequence of reproduction indicated by the read program. For that reason, a manual operation for inputting the program does not need to be performed after the program is recorded on the disk. The operating property of the still picture recording/reproduction device is thus improved.
