  • Publication number: 20040109414
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of providing Differentiated Service (DiffServ) based Quality of Service (QoS) to Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) packets through a router. In the QoS providing method, VoIP call session information including source and destination IP addresses, source and destination user datagram protocol (UDP) port numbers, and requested QoS information is provided to the QoS control server by the VoIP call control device. Source and destination routers are found using the VoIP call session information and the VoIP call session information requiring provision of QoS is sent to the source and destination routers by the QoS control server. The present invention can recognize VoIP packets, provide QoS to the VoIP packets, and transmit voice packets of high quality.

  • Publication number: 20040088424
Abstract: The present invention provides a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based load balancing apparatus and method. The apparatus receives a message transmitted from a user at a position in front of a plurality of proxy servers each connected in parallel and decodes the received message. The apparatus selectively performs addition, renewal and deletion of user information according to an expiration field of a header and transmits the decoded message to a proxy server, if the decoded message is a REGISTER message, searches for a proxy server that will handle a destination address, increases a load of the proxy server and transmits the decoded message to the proxy server, if the decoded message is a INVITE message, and examines a proxy server of the destination address and transmits the decoded message to the proxy server, if the decoded message is a BYE message.

  • Publication number: 20030227907
Abstract: An apparatus for providing quality of service (QoS) of voice over IP (VoIP) traffic on IP routers and a forwarding method therefor are provided. The VoIP quality of QoS providing apparatus in an Internet protocol (IP) network containing data traffic and providing VoIP service includes: a softswitch which performs a VoIP call coordination function in the IP network and transmits VoIP call connection information in a multicast transmission method; and a router which provides QoS in forwarding a VoIP packet, by using the information received from the softswitch. With the VoIP QoS service providing apparatus, reliable multicast transmission method is enabled in providing VoIP connection information to each router, and when a softswitch additionally processes related functions, the load to the system is reduced. Since in the router, VoIP QoS flow and QoS information are added to a flow table for performing packet forwarding, VoIP packet recognition and QoS providing are enabled.

  • Publication number: 20030039241
Abstract: A telephone number domain name system is provided for managing a telephone number system using an existing domain name system thereby allowing a telephone number to be unique worldwide. The system includes a telephone number domain name system client and telephone number domain name server. The telephone domain name client includes a telephone number input section for receiving a telephone number, a domain name conversion section for converting the telephone number into a domain name, and an address request section for requesting an Internet protocol (IP) address corresponding to the converted domain name. The telephone number domain name server includes an address search section for searching an Internet protocol (IP) address corresponding to the request, and an address response section for transmitting a searched Internet protocol address to the address request section.

  • Patent number: 6275504
Abstract: A direct memory read and cell transmission apparatus for an ATM cell segmentation system having a host CPU is disclosed. The segmentation circuit of the apparatus transfers the address and size for the start of the DMA by the byte unit. When a predetermined information is provided, and a DMA read is requested, the data is transferred through the bus of the word unit such as the PCI interface, and then necessary bytes are obtained for thereby forming a 32 bit word stream, so that the ATM cell of a 32 bit×12 word form and transfers to the lower circuit. Therefore, when the segmentation circuit processes the buffer, all data are computed by the byte unit, and in an application program, the data are not obtained for transmitting the data to the ATM cell, so that it is possible to enhance the processing capability.
