    Abstract: Disclosed is a display device, which includes a display panel that displays an image, and a controller that receives image data corresponding to a frame and drives the display panel. The controller divides the image data into a plurality of blocks and determines whether the image is a fixed image based on an inter-frame variation of a block of the plurality of blocks. The controller changes an afterimage prevention operation mode when the number of blocks displaying the fixed image for a period equal to or greater than a first reference value among the plurality of blocks is equal to or greater than a second reference value.
