Abstract: A method for accessing a home-network in which a home network system linked to a home-gateway that is accessed in relation to a home-portal service, and an apparatus thereof are provided. The method for accessing to a home-network, in a network access method of a network system wherein an open Internet Protocol (IP) address is used for an external network and a private IP address is provided for an internal network resource, the method for accessing to the home-network has the steps of (a) collecting user information and an open IP address from the network system; (b) authenticating an authorized user, who wants to access an internal network resource, based on the user information and open IP address collected in the step (a); and (c) providing the open IP address to the user authenticated in the step (b) so that a virtual network between the authenticated user and the internal network resource that the user wants to use is built.

Abstract: A user interface support system and method. The user interface support system of the present invention includes a UI support module provided in a household electric appliance, for supporting UIs through input/output modules depending on the conditions of respective users; and an external UI support module provided in a web server or home server connected to the UI support module through a wired/wireless communication network, for managing the input/output modules depending on the conditions of the respective users transmitted through the UI support module and providing an input/output module requested by the UI support module.

Abstract: A network device having a message receiving module for receiving notify messages transmitted from controlled devices connected in a network, a device list management module for collecting information regarding the controlled devices connected in the network and creating and managing a list of service information of all the controlled devices connected in the network, and a control module for searching for service information of a specific controlled device, which has been requested by a control point, in the device list management module and transmitting the searched information. Since a controlled device has a list of other controlled devices connected thereto in a network, when a message searching for a specific controlled device has been received from a control point, another controlled device can transmit a response message to the control point on behalf of the specific controlled device even though the specific controlled device cannot receive the message from the control point.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing object-in-content information that includes a central control unit which creates and provides basic content information, receives the object-in-content information and provides the object-in-content information in a user-viewable format. The apparatus also features an object information interface unit which transmits a message containing the basic content information provided by the central control unit to an object-in-content information managing device, receives a message containing object-in-content information corresponding to the basic content information from the object-in-content information managing device, and transmits the object-in-content information contained in the received message to the central control unit.

Abstract: A networking method and apparatus for managing information between a master device and a slave device is provided. In the network, a master device and at least one slave device are connected to each other via an RS-232 port. Through the operation of the network, the master device can obtain the identifiers (IDs) of the slave devices, and connections among the slave devices can be ascertained. Accordingly, a majority of digital home appliances establish a network using a communication medium, such as RS-232 provided to a fundamental external interface. The present invention enables digital home appliances connected on the network to exchange information.

Abstract: A remote management system including a remote management server, a data broadcasting apparatus, and a plurality of remote management target devices, and a remote management method are provided. The remote management server generates a job control command packet according to an area, in which remote management target devices execute a requested remote management job, and transmits the job control command packet to a data broadcasting apparatus when the requested remote management job is a common job to a plurality of remote management target devices. The data broadcasting apparatus receives the job control command packet from the remote management server, converts the job control command packet into broadcast data, and transmits the broadcast data to the plurality of remote management target devices through a broadcast channel. The remote management target devices restore a job control command included in the broadcast data and execute the requested job.

Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and a method for verifying the validity of an XML document when an XML application operates in an embedded device having a relatively low-performance processor and a small memory so as to prevent errors in the XML application due to wrong information. An XML parser using an external XML validator includes an XML receiver, an external XML validator caller, and a DOM/SAX tree generator. The external XML validator includes a schema/DTD receiver, an XML validator, and an XML validity result transmitter.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a device of a HAVi network system through a non-IEEE1394 network are provided. The method for controlling through the non-IEEE1394 network a device which is connected to a Home Audio Video interoperability (HAVi) network system, includes: (a) installing a non-IEEE1394 communications module and a proxy manager in a control device connected to the HAVi network system; (b) installing a havlet and a client proxy in the controller having a non-IEEE1394 communications module; (c) converting a user control command input through the havlet into a HAVi message; (d) packaging the HAVi message into a non-IEEE1394 network message through the client proxy and transmitting the non-IEEE1394 message to the proxy manager through the non-IEEE1394 communication module; and (e) extracting the HAVi message from the received non-IEEE1394 message through the proxy manager and sending the HAVi message to a messaging system installed in the control device.

Abstract: Provided are method and system for remotely updating a household device. The household device, which is coupled to a predetermined server through a communication network and can be remotely updated with update function data downloaded from the server, includes a first unit that forcibly converts the household device into a download mode when the household device is in a state in which it cannot automatically or manually receive the update function data; and a second unit that receives the update function data from the server according to the authorization of the first unit and updates a system function. Accordingly, the external update function data can be downloaded to the household device through the network to update the function of the household device without expense of human resources, even if the household device operates abnormally.
