  • Patent number: 7309952
Abstract: A flat panel for a cathode ray tube includes a faceplate portion, a skirt portion and a blend round portion joining the faceplate portion with the skirt portion. A point where an external contour of the faceplate portion meets an external blend round contour of the blend round portion is defined as a first point and a point where an external contour of the skirt portion meets the external blend round contour is defined as a second point. The external blend round contour is formed between an imaginary arc whose end points coincide with the first and second points and a line segment whose end points coincide with the first and second points, or is the line segment. The imaginary arc is smoothly connected to the external contours of the faceplate portion and the skirt portion at the first and the second point.

  • Patent number: 7005791
Abstract: The present invention is related to a flat panel for cathode-ray tube capable of securing a large viewing area in the flat panel which is fitted into a window of a cabinet. In accordance with the panel of the present invention, stepped portions are formed along an edge of a face to fit the panel into the window of the cabinet. A depth from a surface of the face to a surface of the stepped portion is set to satisfy a condition of 2?Tf/Tc?0.7 where Tf is a vertical distance from a starting point of the stepped portion to an inner surface of the panel and Tc is a thickness of the center of the face. The panel in accordance with the present invention can provide perceptual flatness to a viewer; improved implosion-proof characteristics; and a structure capable of enduring an external mechanical impact. Further, the panel having a precise structure can be manufactured by a press-molding process.

  • Patent number: 6987351
Abstract: A flat panel for a cathode ray tube of the present invention includes a faceplate having a useful screen for displaying an image; a skirt portion which extends from a perimeter of the faceplate and has a seal edge; and a blend round portion joining the faceplate with the skirt portion, wherein when an average outer curvature radius R1 and an average inner curvature radius R2 of the faceplate are equal to or greater than 10,000 mm, an overall height H of the faceplate satisfies a following relationship: T1+10?H?D×0.12 where T1 and D are a face center thickness of the faceplate and a diagonal length of the useful screen, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6844668
Abstract: A flat panel of the present invention is provided with a mold match line which is formed in a manner that H2 (a distance between a first plane passing through the mold match line and a second plane tangent to an outer contour of the face portion and parallel to the first plane) satisfies the following equation: 8?H2?T1×2.24?D0.5×0.027 when T2 /T1?1.5 and D?500 mm; 8?H2?T1+T1/6.42?D0.5×0.027 when T2/T1?1.5 and 500 mm<D?670 mm; and 8?H2 ?T1+T1/0.856?D0.5×0.027 when T2/T1?1.5 and D>670 mm.

  • Patent number: 6812633
Abstract: A panel for use in a cathode ray tube of the present invention includes a face portion, a skirt portion extending from a periphery of the face portion and a blend round portion connecting the face portion and the skirt portion. A mold match line is formed on the skirt portion in a manner that a mold match line height H1 satisfies a first equation: 0<H1≦H×0.47 when mean outer radius of curvature is equal to greater than 10,000 mm, and satisfies a second equation: 0<H1≦H×0.37 when mean outer radius of curvature is less than 10,000 mm, where H is an overall height of the panel.

  • Publication number: 20040174111
Abstract: A side projection type cathode ray tube includes a front panel and at least two electron beam emission units. The front panel has a face portion for displaying an image thereon and a skirt portion backwardly extended from a periphery of the face portion. The electron beam emission units are prepared along the circumference of the skirt portion of the front panel. Each electron beam emission unit has an electron gun for emitting an electron beam and a deflection yoke for deflecting the electron beam emitted from the electron gun. By configuring the cathode ray tube in the above-described manner, the thickness of the cathode ray tube can be greatly reduced.
