  • Patent number: 6822701
Abstract: A liquid crystal display apparatus has an improved repair success rate. In the liquid crystal display apparatus, a pixel electrode is electrically connected to a drain electrode of a thin-film transistor. The drain electrode has a substantial correction site which is narrowed in width. An opening is formed in a certain region of said pixel electrode, overlying the substantial correction site of the drain electrode, the opening being in contact with the outer periphery of the pixel electrode.

  • Patent number: 6795066
Abstract: A method of driving a display apparatus including a screen which has pixels arranged in a matrix applies a scanning signal to scanning signal lines connected to the pixels and thus selects each line to scan the screen and also supplies a data signal to those pixels on the selected line via data signal lines, so as to produce a display. Under these conditions, after the screen is scanned twice or more, there is provided a idle period T2 in which all the scanning signal lines are caused to be in a non-scanning state for a period longer than a scanning period T1 in which the screen is scanned once.

  • Patent number: 6600534
Abstract: A reflective liquid crystal display device is provided in which, on one of a pair of substrates opposed to each other with a liquid crystal layer interposed therebetween, data signal lines and scanning signal lines are provided so as to cross each other, thin film transistors are provided so as to be electrically connected to the data signal lines and the scanning signal lines, reflective pixel electrodes are provided on an interlayer insulator formed so as to cover at least a part of the data signal lines, the scanning signal lines, or the thin film transistors, and the reflective pixel electrodes are electrically connected to drain electrodes of the thin film transistors, wherein an underlying film is disposed in contact with the interlayer insulator, the underlying film uniforming heat conduction and/or light transmittance between the interlayer insulator and the one of the substrates and/or contact properties of the interlayer insulator with respect to the one of the substrates in a region where at least

  • Patent number: 5471329
Abstract: An active matrix type liquid crystal display panel including a first and a second insulating substrates which face each other is disclosed. The first insulating substrate includes: first bus lines formed on a face of the first insulating substrate, the face facing the second insulting substrate; second bus lines crossing the first bus lines; a short-circuit line for short-circuiting the first bus lines to the second bus lines, the short-circuit line crossing the first bus lines at end portions thereof and crossing the second bus lines at end portions thereof; and a plurality of elements for electrically connecting the short-circuit line to one of the first bus lines and the second bus lines, the elements being respectively formed at the crossings of the short-circuit line and the first bus lines and at the crossings of the short-circuit line and the second bus lines.

  • Patent number: 5206634
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display apparatus in which a selection signal is simultaneously applied to two scanning signal lines, the application of the selection signal to one of the two scanning signal lines is terminated earlier than that of the selection signal to the other one of the two scanning signal lines. Alternatively, the level of the selection signal to one of the two scanning signal lines is made higher than that of the selection signal to the other one of the two scanning signal lines.
