  • Patent number: 11506386
Abstract: A conduit for transport of a fluid, the conduit comprising: a wall extending around and along an axis extending parallel to a direction of bulk fluid flow. The wall having an inner surface defining an interior of a channel through which fluid flows; and a plurality of projections extending from the inner surface of the wall. The plurality of projections extend around the axis, in a plane perpendicular to the axis; and wherein the projections have a height perpendicular to the axis into the channel, and the height is arranged such that the projections modify the flow of fluid at a boundary layer of the fluid adjacent the wall. The conduit is arranged to carry a first fluid; the conduit includes an opening for introducing a second fluid into the channel such that the first and second fluid are mixed downstream of the opening and the plurality of projections are provided upstream of the opening, in a direction of fluid flow.

  • Patent number: 10704517
Abstract: A combustion chamber comprising an upstream end wall, at least one annular wall, at least one fuel injector and at least one seal. The at least one annular wall being secured to the upstream end wall. The upstream end wall having at least one aperture. Each fuel injector being arranged in a corresponding one of the apertures in the upstream end wall and each seal being arranged in a corresponding one of the apertures in the upstream end wall and around the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. Each seal having an inner surface facing the corresponding one of the fuel injectors and an outer surface facing away from the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. Each seal abutting the corresponding one of the fuel injectors. The downstream end of each seal increasing in diameter in a downstream direction and the upstream end of each seal having a radially extending flange.

  • Publication number: 20190170354
Abstract: A fuel spray nozzle is provided for atomising liquid in a gas, the nozzle comprising: a gas passage; a liquid passage; a prefilming surface positioned downstream of the liquid passage and the gas passage, and configured to receive liquid from the liquid passage and to receive gas from the gas passage; wherein the liquid passage terminates at an exit orifice upstream of the prefilming surface; and wherein the gas passage contains a flow perturbator upstream of the liquid passage exit orifice, to increase the turbulence of gas passing from the gas passage to the prefilming surface.
