    Abstract: A method for auto-formating a HDD operatively attached to a computer system is disclosed and includes the steps of: (A) effecting the CPU to read data of the FDD to determine whether a FLAG 1 file exists in the read data; (B) re-effecting the CPU to read data of FDD and delete temporary files if temporary files exist in the read data; (C) effecting the CPU to determine whether low level formatting has been completed, to access the FDD through the FDC, and to transmit data stored in the memory to the FDD, and form a PREFORM.
