  • Publication number: 20030168081
Abstract: A motor-driven, fixed or adjustable spray system is provided, in which the motor overrides and augments the natural rotational force supplied by the input water pressure through one more inclined spray nozzles, thereby increasing the strike force and efficient water impacting of the floor surface. This enhances water delivered from one or more nozzles to impact into the floor surface such as cement, tile, pebble-reinforced concrete, patio stones, linoleum and the like and thereby dislodge various contaminants compared to conventional floor cleaning systems. The spray system may be adjustable from about horizontal to vertical and is also adapted to utilize cleaning pads such as from fibers, cloths, abrasive pads, etc. Use of the cleaning pads may also be augmented by the water spray. Rotary movement of the spray system and/or the cleaning pads may be effected by electrical power, including battery power, or by an equivalent pneumatic (i.e., air driven) power, hydraulic power, etc.

  • Patent number: 5765250
Abstract: A floor cleaner device is described comprising a rolling support on which is mounted a tiltable handle that can be secured in various angular positions during use by means of a set of solenoid actuated locking pins which engage a set of bores defined on the handle frame. During use, the device is balanced between a first set of wheels and a rotatable cleaning element. A second set of wheels is maintained in an elevated position by the handles during use and out of contact with the floor surface which is being cleaned. To conserve space during storage and when not in immediate use, the device may be positioned in an upright position and stable manner by tilting the handle to a vertical position and engaging the actuated pins into the appropriate bores to effect upright positioning. This tilt configuration will lower the second set of wheels into contact with a floor surface, and balance the device between the two sets of wheels, and consequently the device will occupy less space.

  • Patent number: 5569928
Abstract: Light arrays for use in systems for separating and irradiating blood are disclosed. In accordance with the present invention, the light array has one or more bulbs with electrical connecting leads and first and second support members connected to the bulbs. The second support member preferably includes a connector for receiving the electrical leads. The support members preferably define an end surface and an interior surface, wherein the support members are disposed adjacent the bulbs so the end surfaces are opposed to define a channel, providing a space where tubing carrying blood or other fluids can be disposed without interfering with the array. The bulbs are most preferably attached to the support members using flexible self-locking straps, and in embodiments using two or more bulbs, the bulbs are also preferably held together by one or more straps. Improved mounting systems for connecting the array to the instrument by one or more spring mounts are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5330420
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for continuous, on-line monitoring of extracorporeal blood in a blood path. A shell has a blood inlet port, a blood outlet port and two compartments: a blood compartment and a plasma compartment separated by a semi-permeable membrane that allows plasma to pass, but not red blood cells. Blood flows through the blood compartment and transmembrane pressure is applied between the blood and the plasma compartments causing the plasma inside the plasma compartment to be replaced by fresh plasma that is flowing through the blood compartment. Any color change of the plasma in the plasma compartment can be detected.

  • Patent number: 5223447
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a DRAM cell is provided having an isolation merged trench for applying to 16 megabit and 64 megabit DRAM cells, which includes the steps forming a primary dielectric for a capacitor within the interior of a trench, depositing an n.sup.+ doped polysilicon, forming a secondary dielectric and then stacking polysilicon thereon and connecting the polysilicon within an n.sup.+ diffusion layer of the bottom of the trench for forming a plate. As a result of this method all of the capacitors disposed between the n.sup.+ polysilicon storing electrode and the n.sup.+ polysilicon plate as well as the polysilicon storing electrode and the n.sup.+ diffusion layer plate are utilized as a storing capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4921473
Abstract: A multicomponent fluid separation and irradiation system is described containing a centrifuge drum and a source of radiant energy located within the drum. In a first embodiment a disposable rigid separation/irradiation chamber is provided with a cylindrical outer compartment located within the drum and opposing the radiant energy source. Whole blood is supplied to the chamber through a dynamic seal located at the center of the chamber. As the chamber is rotated, blood is separated so that energy from the source passes through the inner wall of the chamber and the separated plasma layer to irradiate the buffy coat layer. In a second embodiment, one or both of the walls of the outer compartment of the chamber are flexible so that the chamber will expand as blood is pumped in and will collapse as blood is pumped out.

  • Patent number: 4496458
Abstract: Dialysis apparatus is arranged to enable convenient measuring of ultrafiltration rate from liquid, such as blood, that is to be dialyzed. Dialyzer can have, downstream of a dialysis chamber, a dialyzate passageway through which the ultrafiltration flow rate can be readily measured as by introducing a gas bubble into the dialyzate and timing its movement through the passageway. An air-injection attachment can be fitted to the dialyzer or to a dialyzate supply system, to inject the gas bubble for such measurement. Bubble injection can also be effected in a flow rate measuring passageway downstream of the dialyzer. Flow rates of dialyzate into and out of dialyzer can be compared to show ultrafiltration while dialyzing. Dialyzer can also have end caps with thickned closure walls for better ultrasonic welding to the dialyzer body, and the caps can have vents that simplify testing of the seals between the caps and the dialysis membrane body.
