  • Patent number: 6955287
Abstract: An upper shearing blade equipped with a protrusion of a triangle-columnar shape and a lower shearing blade equipped with a protrusion of the same shape are applied onto the overlapped portion of metal plates to be bonded, and then pressed into the metal plates in an oblique direction inclined with respect to the thickness direction by a stroke in such a range that the metal plates are not completely cut off. The operating loci of the upper, shearing blade and the lower shearing blade are overlapped each other so that one falls inside the other, and the sheared surfaces of the metal plates are formed into a bonded portion by plastic flow deformation. Therein, since a compressive force is applied onto the portions to be bonded, the portion being defined by the amount of overlap, and the portions are compressed to form a compressed portion after completion of bonding, the bonding strength enhances.

  • Publication number: 20050174980
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adjusting a desired expression section according to input bit values in a mobile communication system that expresses only a defined partial section of the input bit values in order to make the number of output bits be less than the number of the input bits, and maps bit values included in unexpressed sections to a specific value is provided. In the apparatus and method, a measurer divides possible output bit values into at least three sections, and measures output frequencies of output bits for the respective sections for a predetermined time. A controller adjusts the desired expression section, when an output frequency for a specific section is greater than output frequencies for other sections.

  • Patent number: 6836225
Abstract: A fast search method for searching for an optimum codeword for nearest neighbor vector quantization. An upper boundary value and a lower boundary value between which an optimum codeword will exist in a codebook are calculated using a distortion of a designated element in an input vector and an experimentally determined threshold. Further, a start point and an end point for codebook search are determined using a binary search method from a codebook rearranged in descending order, and a full search scheme is applied only within a search range calculated by the determined start point and end point, thereby determining an optimum codeword for nearest neighbor vector quantization.

  • Publication number: 20040253934
Abstract: An apparatus and method of receiving multi-path signals in a direct sequence Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) mobile communication system is disclosed. Timing control signals from respective fingers are collected, and relations among positions of time delays where the respective fingers intend to perform a demodulation are analyzed. If it is determined that the time delay position for a specified finger approaches the time delay position of the finger allocated with an adjacent multi-path as close as a threshold value, the distance between the time delay positions is compulsorily kept as the threshold value. This can be effected by making the timing control signal of the finger allocated with the adjacent multi-path be equally used in the specified finger.

  • Patent number: 6695684
Abstract: A chemical mechanical polishing apparatus includes a polishing pad on which a wafer requiring planarization is placed, a conditioning disc having an abrasive surface for conditioning the polishing pad, a tank containing de-ionized water in which the conditioning disc soaks while standing by, and a cleaner for cleaning the conditioning disc. The conditioning disc cleaner is disposed in the tank of de-ionized water to remove polishing impurities from an abrasive surface of the conditioning disc. The cleaner may include a brush having bristles against which the abrasive surface of the conditioning disc is placed when it is lowered into the tank. In operation, after the wafer is polished, an abrasive surface of the conditioning disc is run over the upper surface of the polishing pad to condition the surface of the polishing pad. Then the conditioning disc is moved off of the upper surface of the polishing pad and to a stand-by position in which the abrasive surface of the disc is submerged in a liquid.

  • Patent number: 6685438
Abstract: In an operation control apparatus of a compressor, a current, a voltage an d a TDC, etc. applied to a compressor are detected, a speed and a TDC are constantly controlled so as to place an operation point of the compressor within a high efficiency operation region by using a phase difference between each detected values (for example, a phase difference between the current and the voltage), and an operation frequency is varied according to a load variation, accordingly an operation efficiency of the compressor can be improved.

  • Patent number: 6548388
Abstract: A gate electrode conductive layer is formed on an active region that is recessed relative to field oxide layers so as to define a damascene structure. The gate electrode conductive layer is formed on the active region but is not formed on a field region so that the thickness of an interlayer insulation layer deposited in a succeeding process is reduced, thereby reducing or preventing voids within the interlayer insulation layer. A polysilicon is formed on the bottom of the active region by selective epitaxial growth, thereby minimizing the influence of micro scratches, pits or stringers occurring on the bottom of the active region.
