  • Patent number: 9618685
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a light guide plate formed by injection molding of an aromatic polycarbonate resin that is a polymer of an aromatic dihydroxy compound and a diaryl carbonate. The aromatic dihydroxy compound and the diaryl carbonate are present in a mole ratio of about 1:1.02 to about 1:1.35, and the aromatic polycarbonate resin has a weight average molecular weight from about 10,000 g/mol to about 18,000 g/mol and includes about 5 mol % to about 30 mol % of terminal hydroxyl groups relative to total moles of terminal groups. The light guide plate formed of the aromatic polycarbonate resin can reduce a yellowing phenomenon upon injection molding, can exhibit low color deviation under high temperature and high humidity conditions, and can secure excellent properties in terms of discoloration resistance, and brightness quality (brightness uniformity), and the like.

  • Publication number: 20140213681
Abstract: A method for preparing a polycarbonate resin includes polymerizing an aromatic dihydroxyl compound and a diaryl carbonate to prepare a polycarbonate pre-polymer; injecting and mixing an inert gas with the prepared polycarbonate pre-polymer; and foaming and polymerizing the polycarbonate pre-polymer with which the inert gas is mixed. The method can prevent or reduce yellowing upon melt polymerization of the polycarbonate resin.

  • Publication number: 20140187736
Abstract: A method for preparing branched polycarbonate includes: preparing a first raw material by mixing and reacting an aromatic dihydroxy compound, diaryl carbonate, and about 60 ppb (weight) to about 140 ppb (weight) of a catalyst with respect to the amount of aromatic dihydroxy compound; preparing a second raw material by mixing and reacting an aromatic dihydroxy compound, diaryl carbonate, a phosphorus branching agent, and about 350 ppb (weight) to about 450 ppb (weight) of the catalyst with respect to the amount of aromatic dihydroxy compound; and melt-polymerizing about 100 parts by weight of the first raw material and about 1 part by weight to about 20 parts by weight of the second raw material. The branched polycarbonate prepared by the method can exhibit excellent properties in terms of heat resistance, color stability and/or fluidity due to small catalyst amount.
