  • Patent number: 6349087
Abstract: A disk is moved between disk cartridges without being in touch with the disk. Therefore, movement of the disk between the disk cartridges is carried out via a disk holder. Further, when the disk is moved between the disk cartridges, disk information of the cartridge is also moved simultaneously. Accordingly, the disk information held by the disk cartridge is provided at a disk holder portion and the disk information can be read by other disk device. Further, the disk holder is provided with a region representing information of the disk. When it is made to be a label region, in moving the disk between the disk cartridges, also the disk information held by the disk holder can simultaneously be moved. Further, even when the disk cartridge incorporates the disk, the content of the disk can easily be recognized via the disk holder. Further, a user can arbitrarily write or erase content of the disk to or from the label region, the disk is recognized easily and easiness of use is considerably promoted.

  • Publication number: 20010014072
Abstract: The thickness of a disk device is determined by the sum of the thickness of a cartridge, the thickness of a space, formed as a result of movement of the cartridge, the thickness of a mechanism chassis and the thickness of a vibration-insulating space, and therefore it is difficult to achieve the thin design of the disk device. When the cartridge is to be loaded into a predetermined position, the cartridge is moved toward the mechanism chassis while the mechanism chassis is moved toward the cartridge, thereby providing vibration-insulating spaces, and with this construction, there can be provided the disk device of a thin design.

  • Patent number: 6256288
Abstract: The present invention provides a disk apparatus and a motor therefor that require low power consumption and reduce errors during recording or reproduction by damping vibration, preventing the motor from falling toward a head. In a disk apparatus comprising a motor and a head, the motor has a rotating portion and a fixed portion, the rotating portion of the motor has a device for holding a disk, the fixed portion of the motor has a bearing section and a stator section mounted in the disk apparatus via damping members, and the damping members are provided in such a way that one side of these members which is closer to a line joining the motor with the head has a higher rigidity than the other side.

  • Patent number: 6008963
Abstract: A magnetic recorder in which magnetic signals are transmitted between a magnetic head device and a magnetic tape, comprises a capstan shaft for driving the magnetic tape when the magnetic tape is pressed against the capstan shaft, so that the magnetic tape runs on the magnetic head device. A pinch roller presses the magnetic tape against the capstan shaft. A main chassis has the magnetic head and the capstan shaft mounted thereon. The magnetic tape and the pinch roller are mounted on a side chassis, with the slide chassis being movable relatively to the main chassis in a feed path between a first position in which the magnetic tape is wound on the magnetic head device for transmitting the magnetic signals therebetween, and a second position in which the magnetic tape is separated apart from the magnetic head device.

  • Patent number: 5982719
Abstract: The speed of a disc handling operation by a disc apparatus having disc changer capability is significantly increased and, at the same time, the disc handling operation is performed with stability. In the disc apparatus according to this invention, a plurality of reproducing units loaded with discs are moved independently and disc reproduction is started by returning the reproducing units to their dedicated positions. Simultaneous returning of the plurality of reproducing units is prevented and each reproducing unit moves for refuge while reproducing the disc. This novel setup significantly shortens the time for moving the reproducing units for disc reproduction. When continuously reproducing a plurality of discs accommodated in proximity, the plurality of reproducing units are moved in a stacked state rather than independently. This also contributes to a significant reduction of the time in the disc handling operation.

  • Patent number: 5862119
Abstract: In an auto-exchanger disc apparatus, both a disc cartridge for stocking plural discs and a pickup cartridge having a pickup are provided with common recesses, and a cartridge stocking unit is formed with a projection which is engaged with the recesses, whereby the cartridges can be exchanged for each other and mounted on the disc apparatus. Therefore, the extension and maintenance of the cartridges can be facilitated. When a double-side reproducing operation is performed, the pickup cartridge is turned upside down and then mounted on the disc apparatus, whereby the double-side reproduction can be surely performed by the disc inverting mechanism. Further, disc inclining means is provided to prevent a disc being returned from the disc feeder to the disc cartridge from abutting against the disc cartridge. The disc inclining mechanism and the disc inverting means may be integrally constructed by the same member to reduce the cost.

  • Patent number: 4837646
Abstract: A signal recording/reproducing apparatus for use with a tape cassette comprises a cylinder assembly having an outer peripheral surface. The cylinder assembly has mounted thereon heads for recording and reproducing a signal on and from a magnetic tape in the tape cassette, respectively, and a lead formed on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder assembly so as to helically extend, to define a running path of the magnetic tape on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder assembly. A pair guides guide the tape so that the tape is helically wound over a predetermined angular extent along the lead upon the recording/reproducing of the signal. The pair of tape guides are located and oriented in their predetermined positions such that the tape guides impart a force to the tape to press the tape onto the lead during recording and reproduction thereby to permit the tape to move along the lead.

  • Patent number: 4583137
Abstract: Signal-recording/reproducing apparatus for use with a tape cassette includes a cylinder having mounted thereon heads for recording and reproducing a signal on and from a magnetic tape within the tape cassette, respectively. A pair of tape guides are movable between an unloading position remote from the cylinder and a loading position adjacent thereto. The tape is withdrawn out of the tape cassette by the tape guides when they are moved from the unloading position to the loading position. When the tape guides are in the loading position, an angular extent over which the tape is in contact with a non-rotatable guide element of one of the tape guides located at an exit side where the tapes leaves the cylinder is less than that over which the tape is in contact with a non-rotatable guide element of the other tape guide located at an approaching side where the tape approaches the cylinder.
