Abstract: A double-axis elongated polyester film for dyeing which simultaneously satisfies following formulas: 3.295≦NMD+NTD≦3.340  (1) Benzene plane orientation≦0.740  (2) Crystallinity (%)≦54  (3) 3≦Thermal shrinkage in machine direction(%)≦7  (4) 0≦Thermal shrinkage in transverse direction(%)≦3  (5) The polyester film is prepared by melt-extruding polyester chips and cooling the extrudate in a cooling drum to prepare a non-crystalline sheet; elongating said sheet at a temperature between 80 and 100° C. which is higher than glass transition temperature (Tg) to make 3.0 to 3.6 folds of length in machine direction to obtain single-axis elongated film; further elongating the film to 3.0-4.2 folds of length in transverse direction at 120-140° C.; thermally treating the obtained film in Tenter's thermal treatment zone at 210-240° C.

Abstract: A method for preparing polyester films, which comprises addition of partially esterified trimellitate at any stage of the polymerization of polyester through direct esterification or ester interchange, the partially esterified trimellitates resulting from salt formation of partial esterified trimellitic acids which are prepared by partial esterification of aromatic tricarboxylic acids selected from trimellitic acid and trimellitic anhydride with alcohols selected from alkyl alcohols and alkylene alcohols. The polyester film prepared the composition has little voids by virtue of good affinity of the particles originating from the partially esterified trimellitates with polyester and thereby not easily broken when forming films. In addition, it is easy to control particle content and size. Further, fine protrusions can be repeatitively formed in the final films, with ease, giving high abrasion resistance and slip property to the film.
