  • Patent number: 6959069
Abstract: A method for testing a subscriber line of a PABX (Private Automatic Branch eXchange) using a DTMF (Dual-Tone Multi-Frequency) signal. The method includes the step of controlling a DTMF transmitter in response to a line test request from an exchange operator to transmit the DTMF signal to the subscriber line, the step of receiving a component of the transmitted DTMF signal reflected from the subscriber line due to impedance mismatching, and the step of determining from a strength of the received DTMF signal component whether the subscriber line is abnormal.

  • Patent number: 6480596
Abstract: A direct inward-outward dialing (DIOD) trunk circuit having a DIOD detecting/sending circuit connected to tip and ring terminals connected to a central office line and a primary coil of a transformer, for detecting a polarity of the voltage potential at the tip and ring terminals and the current flowing therethrough to determine reception of one of an incoming and outgoing telephone call, and a switch, controlled by a relay driver responsive to an interface circuit used for interfacing the DIOD trunk circuit with a switching circuit of a private branch exchange (PBX), for enabling the current to flow between the tip and ring terminals through the DIOD detecting/sending circuit via one of a low or high impedance path, wherein the low impedance path is used to establish a speech path between a central office line subscriber and a corresponding extension subscriber of the PBX.

  • Patent number: 6345096
Abstract: A central office line interface circuit commonly detects a status of a ring signal and a hook switch. The central office line interface circuit includes a hook switch connected to a telephone line, a ring signal path connected in parallel to the hook switch, and a detection circuit connected between a controller of the exchange and a node of the hook switch and the ring signal path, so as to detect a ring signal in an incoming call mode and to detect a hook off status in an outgoing call mode.

  • Patent number: 5930101
Abstract: An over voltage cut-off circuit of a private branch exchange for cutting off the over voltage induced into an E&M (ear and mouth) tie line, includes an E ("ear") line over voltage cut-off circuit composed of an E arrestor which generates heat by the over voltage induced through the E port, and also of an E fuse which melts and blows if it surpasses a melting point. The circuit may also include an M ("mouth") line over voltage cut-off circuit.
