  • Patent number: 8891551
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for performing IPv6 over IPv4 transition to improve performance of a control server. When an edge router selected by the control server according to a tunnel creation request of an IPv6 terminal receives a tunnel creation request message from the control server, the edge router transmits a tunnel creation response message for the received tunnel creation request message to the IPv6 terminal through the control server, and the edge router performs IPv6 over IPv4 transition through a tunnel created by the IPv6 terminal that received the tunnel creation response message so as to improve the performance of the control server. Therefore, loads of the control server occurred because all terminals set control tunnels to the control server can be prevented, and service extensibility due to the increase in the number of subscribers can be guaranteed.

  • Patent number: 8594099
Abstract: A tunneling-based mobility support method and apparatus is provided which supports a mobility of a mobile node in a heterogeneous network regardless of IP versions (IPv4/IPv6). The mobility support apparatus includes a load balancer, a plurality of mobility support servers, and a plurality of end routers each being TCP connected to each of the mobility support servers. When receiving a tunnel establishment request message from the mobile node, the load balancer selects one mobility supports server from a plurality of mobility support servers to control a mobility service for the mobile node. The selected mobility support server selects a plurality of tunnel end addresses of one end router from the plurality of end routers to establish an IP tunnel with the mobile node according to a predetermined criterion, forwards the tunnel establishment request message to the end router, and sends the mobile node a tunnel establishment response message including the tunnel end address of the selected end router.

  • Patent number: 8457014
Abstract: Provided is a method for configuring a control tunnel and a direct tunnel in an IPv4 network-based IPv6 service providing system. To provide IPv6 service, when a random request terminal receives a tunnel response message from a control server by using service information downloaded from a portal server at the time of initialization, the request terminal configures a control tunnel with the control server, and is registered to the control server. The request terminal transmits and receives a direct tunnel request message and a direct tunnel response message with a counterpart terminal by using its terminal information learned during the control tunnel configuration, i.e., network position information and status information, thereby configuring a direct tunnel. Thus, IPv6 communication is made through IPv4 based IPv6 tunneling, so that IPv6 application services that are not yet widely used can easily come into wide use.

  • Patent number: 7751330
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for dynamically managing hierarchical flows that more efficiently process packet traffic while maintaining compatibility with an existing packet data network in transferring both circuit traffic and packet traffic in a packet switched network. The method for dynamically managing hierarchical flows includes: receiving data packets, classifying the data packets according to attributes of the received data packets, and producing first flows; determining whether traffic of each of the first flows exceeds a predetermined bandwidth limit, and performing a packet drop process or producing second flows for first flows that exceed the bandwidth limit, according to a flow-specific policy; and performing second flow processing on the second flows according to a second flow policy. Only flows exceeding the bandwidth limit or causing congestion are hierarchically divided for management. This makes it possible to finely manage the flows without complex operations.
