  • Patent number: 9584849
Abstract: The present invention relates to a touch user interface of an imaging apparatus such as a smart TV. The present invention relates to a user interface method and to an imaging apparatus, in which various menus required for implementing functions provided by the imaging apparatus such as a remote controller command, content, application, web and a TV channel are structured to be fit to two or more menu search modes and correspond respectively to two or more independent touch regions, so that the whole process, from a menu and search mode selection to a final menu item selection, can be carried out by a single touch movement without viewing a remote controller, and the independent touch regions and dependent touch regions are divided to allow for efficient use of the input sensor of the remote controller, having a narrow touch surface.

  • Publication number: 20090073136
Abstract: Methods, techniques, and systems for enhanced processing of touch input are provided. Example embodiments provide a technique for selecting and inputting a command that corresponds to a sequence of relative coordinate values generated by detecting changes in directional movement of a touch position. The user initiates a touch, and as the user moves, the commands corresponding to the sequence of relative coordinate values are displayed. Once the user terminates the touch, the last displayed command is effectively selected and processed as input. Accordingly, a user can input a desired command, character, symbol, etc. using a single gesture, without having to touch the input device to select commands located in fixed positions. Thus, the process of searching for, selecting, and inputting a desired command can be accomplished using just one gesture.
