  • Patent number: 6727299
Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel aromatic polysulfide and an asphalt composition containing the same, and more particularly, to a novel aromatic polysufide having repeating units of the following formula (I), an asphalt composition, an asphalt paving composition, an adhesion promoter and an UV absorber containing the same: The asphalt paving composition of this invention exhibits excellent adhesiveness to aggregate component and better water resistance, and renders the temperature susceptibility less sensitive, thereby greatly improving durability.
    Type: Grant

    Assignee: Markpro Company, Limited
    Inventor: Kyung-Sup Shim
  • Patent number: 4278816
Abstract: Phenols and thiophenols are produced by reacting the corresponding diphenyl ether compound with hydrogen sulfide in contact with an absorptive catalyst, such as charcoal, activated carbon, calcined petroleum coke, etc. Temperatures in the range of from about 300.degree. to about 900.degree. C. are employed.

  • Patent number: 3970729
Abstract: Di-polyoxyalkylene hydroxymethylphosphonate is prepared by contacting phosphorous acid and formaldehyde, or a formaldehyde polymer such as trioxane or paraformaldehyde, preferably in an aqueous medium, to yield a hydroxymethylphosphonic acid intermediate. The intermediate is then contacted wiyth an alkylene oxide selected from ethylene oxide, propylene oxide or butylene oxide to yield di-polyoxyalkylene hydroxymethylphosphonate having the structureal formula: ##EQU1## wherein R is CH.sub.2, ##EQU2## n + m = 2-10. Di-polyoxyalkylene hydroxymethylphosphonate is utilized as a flame retardant, a stabilizer for polyester film and as a plasticizer for cellulose acetate and polyvinyl acetate, among others.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: July 20, 1976
    Assignee: Stauffer Chemical Company
Inventors: Edward N. Walsh, Kyung Sup Shim
  • Patent number: 3969437
Abstract: Novel cyclic phosphorus esters are disclosed having the formula: ##EQU1## where R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 can be the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower hydroxyalkyl, lower haloalkyl and hydroxy with the proviso that no more than one of R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 can be hydroxy. These compounds are useful for the preparation of flame retardant textile finishes as well as for use as polyols for preparing flame retardant polyurethane foams.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 3933696
Abstract: Polyalkylene glycol polyphosphorus compounds having allylic group or aromatic methylene group phosphonate linkages or both phosphite and allylic groups or aromatic methylene group phosphonate linkages are provided by reacting certain polyalkylene or glycol polyphosphites with a stoichiometric or less than a stoichiometric amount of an allylic group containing halide or halomethylated aromatic compound.
