  • Publication number: 20150031325
Abstract: An emergency call apparatus of mobile terminal and method thereof. The emergency call apparatus may include a location identifier to identify a location of a user, and generate location information of the user; an emergency situation manager to identify both voices and movements of the user, determine whether an emergency situation is occurring based on the identified voices and movements, generate an emergency situation alerting signal based on the determination result, and collect surrounding situation sounds generated around the user; and a controller to notify a situation room of the occurrence of the emergency situation based on the emergency situation alerting signal, and transfer the location information of the user and the surrounding situation sounds of the user to the situation room.

  • Patent number: 7782248
Abstract: The present invention relates to a UWB distance measurement system and method of driving the system. The system includes a reception antenna for receiving a signal, which is output from a transmission unit, is reflected from a target and is incident on the reception antenna, a UWB amplifier for amplifying the received signal and generating a first signal, a reference waveform generator for generating a reference waveform which is a reference for analysis of the first signal, a window function generator for generating at least one window function that is applied to the first signal, a correlator for correlating the first signal with the window function output from the window function generator, and generating a second signal which is a revised frequency response of the first signal, and a delay time detector for detecting a delay time component in the second signal.

  • Patent number: 7773659
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an Ultra WideBand (UWB) M-ary Code Shift Keying (MCSK)/Binary Pulse Position Modulation (BPPM) wireless communication system and method. The system includes a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter selects a specific TH code using MCSK according to an additional data stream, performs BPPM on a desired signal according to the selected TH code, and transmits the modulated signal via a channel. The receiver receives the signal transmitted from the transmitter via the channel, and estimates the transmitted signal, which is transmitted from the transmitter, through detection of a Maximum Likelihood (ML) sequence.

  • Patent number: 7660230
Abstract: A novel transceiver structure is proposed to increase the achievable data rate for ultra wideband transmitted reference (UWB-TR) systems. For every Ns pulse pairs during one symbol transmission, the data pulses are weighted by one of the M-ary orthogonal sequences, thus carrying additional log2 M-bit information. Furthermore, by utilizing a pair of balanced matched filters before the cross correlator, the minimum separation between the reference and data pulses is significantly reduced without causing any inter-pulse interference (IPI), which in turn reduces the minimum required frame length in order to avoid the inter-frame interference (IFI). As a result, the invented TR system can achieve higher data rates than the conventional TR system, while maintaining superior bit-error-rate (BER) performance even with lower transmit power.
