Patent number: 9310807Abstract: A method of creating an indoor environment map includes acquiring encoded position information by detecting revolutions of wheels when a mobile unit travels using encoders to predict a position of the mobile unit based on the encoded position information, acquiring a measured distance from the mobile unit to an object existing in a surrounding environment using the distance measuring sensor, predicting a position of the mobile unit to be moved, estimating a distance from the mobile unit to the object at the predicted position of the mobile unit, determining whether the estimated distance is matched with the measured distance, correcting the predicted position of the mobile unit to estimate a position of the mobile unit to be moved by the matching of the predicted position with the measured position, and creating the indoor environment map using the corrected position and the measured distance.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 2010Date of Patent: April 12, 2016Assignee: ELECTRONICS AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS RESEARCH INSTITUTEInventors: Yu-Cheol Lee, Sang Ik Na, Won Pil Yu, Kyu Seo Han

Patent number: 7773673Abstract: In a method for motion estimation using adaptive patterns in a video sequence compression system, an initial search pattern located at a center of a search window in a block of a video frame is determined. A location of a minimum block distortion measure (BDM) is searched in the initial search pattern. A horizontal search pattern for functioning on the search window is determined in the horizontal direction to search a location of a minimum BDM in the horizontal search pattern. A vertical search pattern for operating on the search window is determined in the vertical direction to search a location of a minimum BDM in the vertical search pattern. The location of the minimum BDM in each pattern is designated to be a motion vector. A search pattern to be used in a subsequent searching stage is determined based on the location of the minimum BDM in each pattern.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2003Date of Patent: August 10, 2010Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Kyu Seo Han, Byung Tae Chun, Jae Yeon Lee, Yun Koo Chung, Chieteuk Ahn

Patent number: 7454042Abstract: In an apparatus for online signature verification, a signature data input unit digitalizes a locus of a user signature and reads the locus as a sequence of points. A first and a second pattern transform unit performs a speed equalization and a velocity transform on the signature sequence and generates a first and a second transformed pattern sequence, respectively. A characteristics extraction unit extracts three characteristics vectors from the signature sequence, the first and the second transformed pattern sequence, respectively, to thereby generate the three characteristics vectors. A difference vector estimation unit generates a difference vector. A determination unit determines whether an input signature and the reference signature are signed by a single person.Type: GrantFiled: March 18, 2003Date of Patent: November 18, 2008Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Jae Yeon Lee, Yun Koo Chung, Jung Soh, Byung Tae Chun, Ho Sub Yoon, Kyu Seo Han, Do-Hyung Kim, Yongwha Chung

Patent number: 6965699Abstract: A camera information coding/decoding method for synthesizing stereoscopic real video and a computer graphic image is disclosed. The method stores the camera information generated when picturing, which is not contained in the existing multimedia contents coding standard, that is, the location motion information of the camera and the camera viewpoint displacement information, together with contents as the camera motion information stream. The camera information obtained through the camera position sensor and the camera viewpoint displacement sensor when picturing image is coded and stored together with the contents, thereby easily and precisely synthesizing with the computer graphic image. In addition, since the information may be easily transformed to the descriptor of the camera motion information of MPEG-7 format, there is another advantage of easily carrying out camera motion information indexing operation among searching methods of the multimedia contents.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 2002Date of Patent: November 15, 2005Assignee: Electronics and Telecommunications Research InstituteInventors: Se Yoon Jeong, Byung Tae Chun, Kyu Seo Han, Ho Sub Yoon, Young Lae Bae
