  • Patent number: 5869288
Abstract: Four cockroach allergens are purified, described, characterized and sequenced. The nucleotide sequence responsible for expression of the allergen, and the amino acid sequence thereof, are set forth. These allergens induce IgE antibody binding, which may generate an allergic or asthmatic response in sensitive individuals. The allergens are expressed by one of the dominant cockroach strains in the United States, B. germanica. Sequence analysis allows classification of the allergens in major protein classifications.
