Publication number: 20240017993Abstract: There are provided systems and methods for using partial oxidation to produce an end product from hydrocarbon gases, such as flare gas. There are provided methods and systems to minimize the amount of compression work needed for an air breathing engine reformer in a gas-to-liquid system and method by one or more of: (a) reducing the amount of nitrogen; (b) increasing back-pressure of the engine reformer from standard 1 or 2 bar, to up to 5 bar; (c) use of a turbo-expander to recover much of the compression work, thus lowering the cost, among other efficiencies, to operate a plant; and (d) utilizing an intensified synthesis loop to achieve acceptable methanol synthesis at lower overall pressure. In an embodiment, the end product is methanol.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 28, 2023Publication date: January 18, 2024Applicant: M2X Energy, Inc.Inventors: John Anthony Dean, Andrew L. Publication number: 20160348347Abstract: A universal valve adaptor for toilet fill-valves is placed within a toilet tank and connected to a water source outside the toilet tank. The top end of the system has a threaded profile to mate a toilet fill-valve and the bottom end has a threaded profile to mate a water supply line. An internal valve contained within the lower non-separated portion of the body controls water flow through the body. The internal valve allows water flow to occur while coupled and open, with an automatic shut-off when the separated top end is detached. The internal valve is actuated by an axial profile on the separable top end which forces and displaces a plunger located within the lower non-separated portion of the body. The separable top end allows a new or replacement toilet fill-valve to be installed without further disassembly or impact on associated connections and related parts.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 27, 2015Publication date: December 1, 2016Inventors: William Gardetto, Olvie L. Publication number: 20120312955Abstract: A combined handle and stand for a hand held device, such as a notebook computer, forms a case with gripping edge guards on the left, the right, the bottom and the top, all of which are affixed to a back guard. The back guard forms a support ring and a snap-lock. A circular handle support fits into support ring and forms a receptacle for mating with snap-lock. A handle is mounted into opening of circular handle support so that handle pivots from one edge between an open position and a closed position. The handle forms a cut-out to make room for snap-lock. The opening, at the edge opposite pivot edge, forms a recess for ease of opening the handle from the closed position. Once in the open position, the handle can be gripped by a human user with the non-dominant hand of the user so that the user can then use the dominant hand for input to the hand held device. The circular handle support can turn to four stable positions.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 8, 2011Publication date: December 13, 2012Inventor: Ovie L. Randolph

Patent number: 8033291Abstract: A cut-off valve assembly for use with a toilet tank, includes a float within the toilet tank, a water retaining float guide within the toilet tank which allows the vertical travel of the float, the water retaining float guide having weep holes below the lowest travel of the float. The weep holes slowly release the retained water when the water in the tank is below the weep holes, a magnet within the toilet tank, affixed to the bottom of the float, and a magnetically activated cut-off valve for cutting off the water flow to the toilet tank when activated by the magnet. The magnet will activate the magnetically activated cut-off valve when the float is at the lowest travel. A preferred form of the cut-off valve assembly also includes a stem affixed to the float and extending downward from the float. The magnet is affixed to the bottom of the stem, and the magnet is affixed to the float through the stem. In a preferred form, a magnet housing is affixed to the bottom of the stem.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2008Date of Patent: October 11, 2011Inventor: Ovie L. Randolph

Patent number: 7586023Abstract: The present invention provides methods to confer resistance to protoporphyrinogen-inhibiting herbicides onto crop plants. Resistance is conferred by genetically engineering the plants to express cloned DNA encoding a protoporphyrinogen oxidase resistant to porphyric herbicides. If such resistant crop plants are cultivated, utilization of these herbicides on fields of these crop plants becomes feasible. This should allow for simpler and more effective weed management, and increase the value of these herbicides for agricultural use. Furthermore, the present invention provides plants, algae, plant cells, and algal cells which have been made resistant to protoporphyrinogen oxidase-inhibiting herbicides by the subject methods using a herbicide-resistant protoporphyrinogen oxidase gene that has been prepared by genetic engineering methods.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1996Date of Patent: September 8, 2009Assignees: Sumitomo Chemical Company, Limited, Duke UniversityInventors: John E.
