Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods to produce 5-(halomethyl)furfural, including 5-(chloromethyl)furfural, by acid-catalyzed conversion of C6 saccharides, including isomers thereof, polymers thereof, and certain derivatives thereof. The methods make use of acids with lower concentrations, and allows for conversion of sugars into 5-(halomethyl)furfural at higher temperatures and faster reaction or residence times.

Abstract: A centrifugal dryer that has improved throughput capacity resulting from the combination of a high angle agglomerate catcher with optional overflow, increased dewatering capacity, a cylindrical dewatering feed chute, a modified rotor design with positionally and structurally modified lifters in the feed and dewatering section, the drying and propagating section, as well as the pellet discharge section, and an efficient circumferential foraminous membrane.

Abstract: Laser and synthetic profilometry of positive displacement motors (PDM) and ML methods, systems, and computer medium storing instructions for predicting PDM attribute(s). Laser profilometric scans (LPS) and mechanical stator minor ID (SMID) measurements from a plurality of locations in the stator are used for training a stator profilometric ML (SPML) model to learn stator profiles. The SPML model is deployed on input SMID measurements to generate synthetic stator dimension data (SSDD). LPS are preprocessed for feature alignment and statistical profilometric data are extracted for use in training the SPML model, and/or for training a PDM motor performance ML (MPML) model to learn PDM performance. The MPML training dataset may also include the learned stator profiles from the SPML model. The MPML model is deployed, on either input LPS or SSDD generated by the SPML model from input SMID measurements, to generate PDM performance data.

Abstract: A current sense resistor and a method of manufacturing a current sensing resistor with temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) compensation are disclosed. The resistor has a resistive strip disposed between two conductive strips. A pair of main terminals and a pair of voltage sense terminals are formed in the conductive strips. A pair of rough TCR calibration slots is located between the main terminals and the voltage sense terminals, each of the rough TCR calibration slots have a depth selected to obtain a negative starting TCR value observed at the voltage sense terminals. A fine TCR calibration slot is formed between the pair of voltage sense terminals.

Abstract: An adjustable lift chair having a frame supporting a seat that can be moved from a horizontal position to an upright angular position. The lift chair providing those with physical limitations the ability to move from a seated position to a standing position. The lift chair having a particular use in a bathroom wherein the chair can be used in a shower, bath, or for use as a toilet overlay. A piston device coupled to a battery provides portability, the piston device is operated by a remote controller.

Abstract: A turbine engine assembly generates an exhaust gas flow that is communicated through a core flow path. The exhaust gas flow is split into a first exhaust gas flow and a second exhaust gas flow. Water is extracted in a condenser from the second exhaust gas flow. The extracted water is transformed into a steam flow in an evaporator system utilizing thermal energy from at least the second exhaust gas flow. An exit flow from the condenser is communicated through an exhaust compressor and compressed to a higher pressure exit flow.

Abstract: A wideband antenna array includes a wide angle impedance matching (waim) board, a manifold board including multiple tower receiving features and at least one conductive tower extending outward from the manifold board and received in a corresponding tower receiving feature. Each of the at least one conductive towers including at least one metalized component. The metalized component forms a circuit connecting the manifold board to the waim board. The waim board is adhered to a first end of the at least one conductive tower opposite the manifold board.

Abstract: This disclosure relates generally to the field of devices and procedures for forming an opening between adjacent tissue structures. For example, in an embodiment, a system for forming an opening between body lumens may include a delivery catheter. A first access element may be configured to be positioned against a first body lumen disposed about a distal end of the catheter. A second access element having an outer diameter that substantially matches an outer diameter of the first access element may be disposed about the distal end of the catheter. The second access element may be configured to be positioned against a second body lumen and axially aligned with the first access element. A filament may be electrically coupled to one or both of the first and second access element.

Abstract: An assembly is provided for a turbine engine with a flowpath. This assembly includes a fuel source and an engine component. The engine component forms a peripheral boundary of the flowpath. The engine component includes a component internal passage. The engine component is configured to receive fuel from the fuel source. The engine component is configured to crack at least some of the fuel within the component internal passage thereby cooling the engine component and providing at least partially cracked fuel. The assembly is configured to direct the at least partially cracked fuel into the flowpath for combustion.

Abstract: A vehicular camera assembly includes a printed circuit board, a metallic shield element at least partially enclosing the printed circuit board, and a housing at least partially enclosing the shield element. The housing includes a front housing portion accommodating a lens. An imager is disposed at the printed circuit board and is optically aligned with the lens. The camera assembly includes an electrical connector for electrically connecting an electrical connecting element of the printed circuit board to a wire harness of a vehicle. The shield element includes at least one seam, with one or more seams including a respective gap between opposing edge regions of the shield element and an overlapping tab that extends from one of the opposing edge regions that at least partially closes the respective seam. The housing and the shield element are in contact.

Abstract: An optical ferrule includes an optical coupling member with a light redirecting element that redirects input light from a waveguide toward an output window. The optical coupling member has a mating surface configured to slidably mate with a mating optical coupling member along a longitudinal axis of the optical ferrule. The optical ferrule also includes at least one stacking member along a longitudinal edge of the optical coupling member. The stacking member has a distal end extending beyond one of the mating surface and a top surface opposed to the mating surface. The stacking member also has a contact surface opposed to the distal end. The contact surface is configured to rotatably interface with a corresponding distal end of a of an adjacently stacked optical ferrule.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods for neurostimulation via vestibular stimulation are described. One example is a device for administering thermal stimulation to an ear canal of a subject. The device may include an earpiece configured to be at least partially insertable into the ear canal of the subject; a thermoelectric device thermally coupled to the earpiece and configured to heat and/or cool the earpiece to thereby heat and/or cool the ear canal of the subject; and a controller configured to administer a selected treatment plan including administering a caloric vestibular stimulation (CVS) stimulus to the ear canal of the subject in a condition-treatment effective amount during a first treatment interval. The treatment plan may be effective to produce a durable improvement in at least one symptom of the condition for a time of at least 1 week following cessation of the administering.

Abstract: Device for measuring jugular venous pressure of a human patient, comprising: (1) A body including a base configured to rest on the patient and align with at least one of the patient's manubrium, sternum and sternal angle and a light emitter assembly configured to project a pattern of light onto the neck of the patient proximate to the patient's jugular vein. (2) Two side arms extending from the body, each side arm being configured to rest on at least one of the patient's upper chest and clavicle. (3) At least one camera associated with one of the side arms, the at least one camera positioned and oriented to capture images of the patient's neck with the pattern of light projected thereon. Methods are also disclosed.

Abstract: A plasticized pyrotechnic material can be easily portioned and formed or molded into a desired shape and burns at a high temperature (>2000° C.) but does not detonate. The plasticized pyrotechnic material may preferably include a combination of about 70-99% by weight of a pyrotechnic composition and about 1-30% by weight of a plasticizer composition comprising various low to mid molecular weight polyisobutylenes. The pyrotechnic material comprises inorganic oxidizers (e.g. metal oxides, oxohalide salts, nitrates, nitrites, chlorates/perchlorates) and metal or metal oxides powders mixed intimately. The plasticizer may include a small amount of a fluoropolymer, such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and may also include up to 1-2% by weight of a processed oil, such as a mineral oil or motor oil. Some embodiments may also include a biocide precursor molecule.

Abstract: A method for administering vestibular stimulation to a subject after anesthesia administration includes after reducing or ceasing administration of anesthesia, administering galvanic vestibular stimulation (GVS) to the subject; and reducing or ceasing administration of GVS at a time when an anesthetized state of the subject is reduced.

Abstract: Method starts with a processor receiving configuration settings including an identified task, a relationship data, and a criticality value. Processor initializes a communication session with an agent client device. The communication session is between a virtual caller associated with the system and the agent client device. Processor then processes an audio signal of the communication session to generate an agent utterance and generates a transcribed agent utterance based on the agent utterance using a speech-to-text processor. Processor generates a virtual caller utterance using a task-specific virtual caller neural network associated with the identified task. The virtual caller utterance can be generated based on the transcribed agent utterance. Processor then causes the virtual caller utterance to be played back in the communication session to the agent client device. Other embodiments are disclosed herein.

Abstract: The presently disclosed subject matter provides for methods and compositions for treating a neoplasia (e.g., multiple myeloma). It relates to chimeric antigen receptors (CARs) that specifically target Fc Receptor-like 5 (FcRL5), e.g., domain 9 of FcRL5, and immunoresponsive cells comprising such CARs. The presently disclosed FcRL5-targeted CARs have enhanced immune-activating properties, including anti-tumor activity.
