Abstract: A method or system for facilitating financial transactions, in particular, an electronic payment method for managing payment of a cost of a consumer's e-commerce order separately from the purchase transaction. The invention thereby decouples the role of the customer—who sets up the e-commerce order—from the role of the paying party. Thus the e-commerce transaction can be completed by the consumer without paying for the goods or service selected in the e-commerce transaction. The electronic payment for the selected goods or services may be made externally in a separate web application at any later time within a preset time limit by any number of persons who is/are identified by the consumer as a paying or paying parties in the e-commerce transaction.
