  • Patent number: 7890806
Abstract: A test harness development component streamlines the design of regression test harnesses for testing text-based software. An auto-recording tool to automatically record the input and output data in an actual run of the testing session and to automatically generate a test harness. The test harness development component provides an auto-executing tool to automatically run the test harness in subsequent regression tests. The test harness language is used to specify the tests, validation rules of the results, and any other rules for running the test of a test harness. The test harness language is human-readable and emulates the manual test procedures with very little overhead.

  • Publication number: 20050044536
Abstract: A method and system for dynamically generating a Perl-language debugging tool that monitors selected ones of a plurality of quantities in a Perl-language program is disclosed. The method includes the steps of selecting at least one of the quantities, identifying each reference to the selected at least one quantity, including an operation to the said selected quantity at selected ones of the references to the quantity, and creating a second software package from said first software package containing the included operations. In another aspect of the invention, the selected quantity or quantities may be monitored between specified line ranges or specified reference conditions.

  • Publication number: 20040243973
Abstract: Within a program, abbreviated data is established corresponding to a plurality of components of a graphical user interface. The abbreviated data abstracts a complete path name corresponding to each one of the plurality of components. During execution of the program, a pre-processor of an apparatus is invoked to automatically generate from the abbreviated data, a code in a predetermined native language. The code in one example comprises a location for each one of the plurality of components. The pre-processor determines the location for each one of the plurality of components based on a location of the abbreviated data corresponding to each one of the plurality of components. A display of the graphical user interface is generated from the code.
