  • Publication number: 20070104087
Abstract: A method for subcarrier quality estimation in a wireless network is disclosed. The method comprises analyzing characteristics of at least some of the subcarriers of a first signal, creating feedback data based on the analyzed characteristics, wherein the quantity of the feedback data is less than the quantity of all of a plurality of measured signal-to-interference and noise power ratio (SINR) values of each subcarrier of the first signal, and transmitting the feedback data.

  • Publication number: 20060203758
Abstract: A mobile terminal comprising a local display for displaying multimedia data. The mobile terminal receives multimedia data via a first wireless interface and transmits the received multimedia data to an external display via a second wireless interface. The mobile terminal transmits the received multimedia data to the external display if the mobile terminal determines the quality of the external display is superior to the quality of the local display.

  • Publication number: 20060171354
Abstract: A flexible and scalable deployment of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology in a mobile cellular system, including a system that deploys multiple channels within a common base station, in which overlapping subcarriers are accepted and a significant amount of resulting interference is corrected.

  • Publication number: 20060148414
Abstract: A method and wireless system that is able to adapt forward channel signal parameters to the different channel characteristics in each deployment environment. For example, the base station may update the waveform parameters based upon the real-time channel measurement feedback as received from the subscriber stations.

  • Publication number: 20060135075
Abstract: A method of dynamic hybrid multiple access in a wireless network that comprises a plurality of subscriber stations is provided. The method includes selecting a sub-carrier status for each of the subscriber stations based on at least one predetermined condition for the subscriber station. The sub-carrier status is either hopping or scheduled. The predetermined condition is monitored for each subscriber station to determine whether to switch the sub-carrier status for the subscriber station based on a change in the predetermined condition.

  • Publication number: 20060045170
Abstract: A mobile station for canceling interference caused by a dominant interferer signal in a 1xEV-DV wireless network. The mobile station comprises an RF down-converter for outputting a down-converted signal, r(n); a first PN demodulator for multiplying the down-converted r(n) signal by a first PN code sequence to produce a first demodulated output signal; W Walsh code demodulators that multiply the first demodulated output signal by a selected set of W Walsh codes to produce W raw user signals; W subtractors that subtract a selected estimated interference signal from one of the W raw user signals to produce W estimated user signals; and a detector that outputs a detected user signal for each of the W estimated user signals that exceeds a first threshold value. The mobile station further comprises an interference estimator that receives W detected user signals from the first detector and outputs W estimated interference signals to the W subtractors.

  • Publication number: 20050277444
Abstract: A base station for communicating with mobile stations in a coverage area of the wireless network. The base station comprises: 1) a transceiver for transmitting downlink OFDMA signals to each mobile station; 2) an antenna array for transmitting the downlink OFDMA signals to the mobile stations using spatially directed beams; and 3) an SDMA scheduling controller for scheduling downlink transmissions to the mobile stations. The SDMA scheduling controller determines a first mobile station having a highest priority and schedules the first mobile station for downlink transmission in a particular time-frequency slot. The SDMA scheduling controller then determines additional mobile stations that are spatially uncorrelated with the first mobile station, as well as each other, and schedules the additional mobile stations for downlink transmission in that particular time-frequency slot according to priority.

  • Patent number: 6934906
Abstract: A method of decoding, composing and rendering a scene. First information is obtained, the first information including a part of a MPEG-4 BIFS scene description stream and at least one coded MPEG-4 media stream. The first information is decoded by invoking a BIFS scene decoder and one or more specific media decoders that are required by the scene. Second information is obtained, the second information including a second part of a BIFS scene description stream that contains a reference to an external application. The second information is decoded by invoking the BIFS scene decoder and an external application decoder. An integrated scene is composed, the integrated scene including one or more decoded MPEG-4 media objects and one or more external application objects specified in the decoded scene descriptions streams. The composed integrated scene is rendered on a display.
