  • Patent number: 5401177
Abstract: A mass termination connector (2) having a low profile backshell which may be efficiently stacked. A wiring assembly (24) having conductors (26) extend through a braid (10) and a backshell adapter body (6) to a connector housing (4). The braid is attached to the exterior of the adapter body, removed from the interior compartment, to protect the wiring assembly from chafing during shock and vibration.

  • Patent number: 4806402
Abstract: There is disclosed a termination device which includes a dimensionally heat-unstable tubular member and a dimensionally heat-unstable insert. The insert is positioned within the tubular member and is in abutting relationship therewith. The termination device may further include a fusible insert or inserts which may be thermoplastic polymeric materials or solder or both. The dimensionally heat-unstable insert is recoverable and the fusible insert or inserts, if present, are meltable at a temperature used to recover the dimensionally heat-unstable tubular member.

  • Patent number: 4615578
Abstract: A mass termination device for terminating a plurality of shielded cables to a connector, the device insuring continuity of the electromagnetic shielding into the connector. The device utilizes a pair of complementary busbar-type grounding members, each having a connector shell contact portion and having a plurality of laterally extending complementary mating semicircular elements, the elements to be clamped onto the shielding braids of cables to be connected so as to substantially surround each individual shielding braid. The device preferably further includes apertures in the semicircular elements of at least one of the busbar-type grounding members. Fusible material is juxtapositioned with respect to the apertures and individual heat-recoverable tubes surround the fusible material and the mating pairs of semicircular elements. A heat-recoverable boot surrounds the pair of busbar-type grounding members, the tubes and the fusible inserts. The grounding members are clamped about cables and the connector shell.

  • Patent number: 4304959
Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a heat-shrinkable sleeve, solder, a solder wettable insert and optionally a pre-installed electrical conductor, in fixed locations in the sleeve, the insert assisting in control of solder flow when the connector is heated to join the conductor to a terminal pin.

  • Patent number: 4283596
Abstract: A method of making an electrical connection between two electrical conductors includes, in addition to making the electrical connection, the steps of positioning the conductors within a heat-shrinkable sleeve whereby they are held, by an insert positioned within the sleeve, in a substantially fixed transverse relationship to each other in the sleeve, and applying heat to shrink the sleeve. Electrical connectors are also described, one of which comprises a heat-shrinkable sleeve having an insert positioned therein for holding conductors to be connected in a substantially fixed relationship to each other, and a quantity of solder positioned within the sleeve between the insert and an end of the sleeve. A further connector comprises a heat-shrinkable sleeve having an insert positioned therein, the insert comprising at least two compartments side-by-side to one another.
