  • Patent number: 12273882
Abstract: An application layer in a device, a service data adaptation protocol (SDAP) layer in the device, and/or a media access control (MAC) layer in the device may determine that wireless communication resources allocated to the device need to be adjusted. The determination may be in response to detecting that a quality of the wireless connection of the device has deteriorated, or it may be based on advance knowledge of information pertaining to an application layer payload in the device. In response to the determination the device may transmit, in a MAC Control Element (MAC CE) to a base station, a request for an adjustment of the allocated wireless communication resources. The adjustment may lead to a temporary boost of resources for a limited period of time or to a persistent update of the allocated wireless communication resources.

  • Publication number: 20250106620
Abstract: A communications system may include at least a first user equipment (UE) device and a second UE device that communicate with one or more hosts via a cellular network and a call routing server. The first UE and the second UE may be paired and may convey peer-to-peer (P2P) signals between each other when in close proximity. The first UE may communicate with the cellular network using a Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN). The MSISDN may, as one example, be shared between the first UE and the second UE. In response to a trigger condition associated with the second UE moving out of proximity to the first UE and/or a user input, communication with the cellular network using the MSISDN may switch from the first UE to the second UE. This may be reversed when the second UE moves back into proximity to the first UE.

  • Publication number: 20240188073
Abstract: An application may provide prebooking information for multiple packet streams to a baseband processor. The prebooking information may include some or all of a first packet stream and information describing one or more additional packet streams. The baseband processor may generate a buffer status report (BSR) corresponding to multiple packet streams to the extent that the data for the packet streams are to arrive at the baseband processor prior to the a preconfigured duration (e.g., the baseband processor receiving a dynamic grant (DG) from the base station). In this sense, application data may be prebooked, by the baseband processor and/or base station, before actually arriving at the baseband processor. These and many other examples and techniques described herein, including the use of dummy packets for a DG, managing DGs based on dummy packets, and more.

  • Publication number: 20230093120
Abstract: The present application relates to synchronization signal transmission using multiple beams. In an example, a network node may support M beams covering M areas. However, only K<M beams may be used at any time for transmission of synchronization signals. Accordingly, the network node cycles through the K beams allocated to synchronization signal transmission, whereby a synchronization signal is transmitted on K spatially-multiplexed and simultaneously-active beams to reach K coverage areas during a first time period, then next K coverage areas during a second time period, and so on until all of the M coverage areas are reached to restart the cycle. A UE is located in only one coverage area, and would see the synchronization signal beam once during a period of time equal to the time needed to cycle through the M coverage areas.
