    Abstract: This disclosure relates to techniques for a wireless device to determine whether to display an indicator of millimeter wave cellular availability. A wireless device may establish a radio resource control connection that includes connectivity with a fifth generation new radio millimeter wave cell. The wireless device may determine to display an indication of millimeter wave cell availability. The wireless device may determine location status information and motion status information for the wireless device. The wireless device may determine when to cease displaying the indication of millimeter wave cell availability after the radio resource control connection is released or the millimeter wave cell is deconfigured based at least in part on the location status information for the wireless device and the motion status information for the wireless device.

Further, the core network may provide the updated capability information to a cellular radio access network associated the cellular network.     Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE) to perform methods for EPS fallback when initiating a voice call while camped on a 5G cell. The UE may camp on a 5G network by performing an IMS registration procedure/IMS SIP invite procedure with an IMS. The UE may initiate a voice call and determine that the voice call cannot be established over the 5G NR network. In response, the UE may perform a TAU procedure or an attachment procedure with a cell of a 4G network. The IMS may be transferred to the 4G network during TAU/attachment procedure. The UE may, in response to determining that it is barred from the 4G network, transition back to the 5G network and transmit, to the 5G NR network, a SIP cancel request to allow a context associated with the UE to be cleared from the IMS.

The first cellular network may support network slicing and voice over new radio (VONR) and one or more cells of the first cellular network may support evolved packet system (EPS) fallback procedures. The UE may receive or initiate a voice call with another UE and adjust one or more capabilities of the UE such that an EPS fallback procedure is deemphasized. The UE may receive signaling from the first cellular network to establish, based at least in part on the one or more adjusted capabilities of the UE, the voice call as a VoNR call via the first cellular network and the network slice may be maintained during the VoNR call.

    Abstract: Embodiments are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for a user equipment device (UE), manufacturer server, and/or cellular network to perform radio capability signaling. A new type of UE radio capability identifier is provided which may allow a network to distinguish between similar UEs that have or have not implemented a capability update. In order to perform a forced capability update, a manufacturer may issue information about the update to a cellular network (and receive acknowledgement of the information) prior to pushing the update to UEs. In response to an unforced capability update, a cellular network may maintain multiple UE radio capability identifiers for similar UEs which have or have not implemented the update. A UE radio capability identifier may be adjusted dynamically in response to temporary changes in the UE's capability.

A network may increase paging retries for known MU-SIM devices, e.g., based on an indication of capabilities from a MU-SIM device. The indication may be via a NAS registration request, an RRC capability procedure, and/or an RRC UE assistance procedure. Additionally, a network may include an indication of a paging priority to the UE. The UE may then determine a response to the page based, at least in part, on the indicated priority. Further, the UE may indicate a tune-away to the network. The indication of the tune-away may include a cause and/or duration for the tune-away and may be provided at an RRC level or a network access stratum (NAS) level.

    Abstract: Embodiments described herein relate to dynamic selection of radio access technologies (RATs) available for use by 5G wireless devices. Managing selection of RATs to use by a 5G (and 4G LTE) capable wireless device can improve performance, e.g., when an application requires a higher throughput and a 5G SA connection underperforms a 5G NSA connection or a 4G LTE connection. Wireless devices can provide geolocation tagged cellular wireless network information, e.g., network performance measurements and observed properties, to network-based servers that collate and organize the crowd-sourced cellular wireless network information into a location database. The wireless device can use the cellular wireless network information of the location database for a geolocation at which the wireless device is operating to estimate performance for alternate wireless connections and compare to measured performance of a currently used wireless connection to determine whether to switch wireless RAT connections.

    Abstract: A wireless network may include a device that communicates with base stations. The device may include a set of antennas. The network may transmit a message identifying a subset of frequency resources of a frequency band for the device. The subset can include a bandwidth part configuration, a component carrier configuration, and/or a physical resource block configuration. The device may generate wireless performance metric data with the set of antennas using the subset of frequency resources rather than averaging wireless performance metric data across the entire band. The device may identify a best performing antenna based on the performance metric data and may use that antenna to transmit signals. The best performing antenna may be different than when averaged across the entire frequency band, serving to optimize wireless performance particularly when the frequency band has a wide bandwidth.

A user equipment (UE) selects a frequency band to scan during a cell search procedure and identifies a frequency within the frequency band that is associated with a synchronization signal block (SSB) based on an indication of the frequency stored locally at the UE prior to the cell search procedure. The UE then scans the frequency for the SSB and determines that the SSB has been broadcast by a cell over the frequency.
