Patent number: 8789600Abstract: A plug counter includes a seat receptive of a plug in a first position and capable of passing the plug in a second position. A first sleeve is in operable communication with the seat and is longitudinally movable in response to movement of the seat between the first position and the second position. A second sleeve is in operable communication with at least one of the first sleeve and the seat and is configured to index upon passage of the plug. A key is in operable communication with the seat and is configured to prevent movement of the seat to the second position after a selected number of plugs have passed the seat. A third sleeve is in operable communication with the first sleeve, and a release member is in operable communication with the third sleeve and is configured to move the third sleeve after it is released.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2010Date of Patent: July 29, 2014Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Maria M. Patent number: 8607811Abstract: A flapper valve preferably used in injection application in deep subterranean locations has an actuating sleeve with a seat to accept an object. A j-slot connects the actuation sleeve movement to the housing so that with an object on the seat and an applied pressure cycle the sleeve moves the flapper to the open position. The plug is dissolved and the injection begins. The plug can have an opening so as to allow continuous injection flow as the flapper is operated. Closing the flapper involves a second object on the same seat and a pressure cycle so that a spring can push the sleeve away from the flapper to allow a torsion spring on the flapper to close it.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2010Date of Patent: December 17, 2013Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventor: Lale Korkmaz

Patent number: 8297358Abstract: Fracturing tools for use in oil and gas wells comprise an inner sleeve, an outer sleeve, a run-in position, and two operational positions. The inner sleeve comprises two ports and two positions. The first port is aligned with a first port of the housing when the tool and sleeve are in the first operational position and is closed when the tool and sleeve are in the run-in position. After performing the first operation, the inner sleeve is returned to its initial position and the outer sleeve is moved placing the tool in the second operational position in which the second port in the inner sleeve is in fluid communication with a second port in the housing. Movement of the tool from the first operational position to the second operational position so that a second operation can be performed is done without the need for an additional well intervention step.Type: GrantFiled: July 16, 2010Date of Patent: October 30, 2012Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventors: Lale Korkmaz, Calvin J. Stowe, II

Patent number: 8205637Abstract: A flow-actuated actuator includes a plurality of rings positionable within a structure, each ring having a full bore therethrough, and a plurality of elongated members in operable communication with the plurality of rings providing orientation of each ring to at least one adjacent ring. The plurality of rings and the plurality of elongated members are configured to generate an urging force in response to fluid flow thereby.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 2009Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Assignee: Baker Hughes IncorporatedInventor: Lale Korkmaz

Publication number: 20120012771Abstract: Apparatuses for restricting fluid flow through a well conduit comprise a tubular member having a helically-shaped seat member disposed within the tubular member. The helically-shaped seat member comprises first and second ends, a first position in which the first and second ends relative to each other to provide a first diameter opening through the helically-shaped seat member for receiving a plug element, and a second position in which the second end is disposed axially below and radially outward relative to the first end to provide a second diameter opening through the helically seat member, the second diameter being greater than the first diameter thereby facilitating the plug element passing through the helically-shaped seat.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2010Publication date: January 19, 2012Inventors: Lale Korkmaz, Michael H.
