Abstract: Example embodiments herein include a process executing in a browser that obtains a video editor application over a network. After obtaining the video editor application, a configuration process associated with the video editor application obtains a configuration file over the network. The configuration file identifies operable characteristics of the video editor application to be enabled for use by a corresponding user viewing the browser. The configuration process associated with the video editor application running on the browser executes the instance of the video editor application in accordance with the configuration file obtained over the network. Creation, maintenance, and distribution of different configuration files for different contexts enables the same video editor application running on corresponding remote browsers to be selectively configured in one of many different ways.

Abstract: A content manager an indication that a branch event is to be included in a video presentation. In conjunction with the branch event, the content manager also receives a selection of a plurality of video segments to be associated with the branch event. Each video segment defines video content to be rendered during playback (e.g., by a rendering application) of the video presentation upon selection of a branch choice corresponding to that video segment. Additionally, the content manager encodes the plurality of video segments and the corresponding branch choices as a branch event in the video presentation.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus provide for an insert deflector to provide a user (i.e. video editor) with greater control as to media enhancements applied to a user-created video. Specifically, the insert deflector provides blocking code for a portion of a media presentation created by the user. The blocking code is associated with an edit decision list that defines the media presentation. Via execution of the edit decision list to render the media presentation, the insert deflector applies the blocking code to prevent insertion of at least one media insert at the portion of the media presentation. A media insert can be an advertisement inserted into a user-created video, or an advertisement shown in conjunction with the playback of the video.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and computer program product provides for a proxy media editor to combine editing, rendering, and a plurality of output specifications via a unified platform. The proxy media editor accesses at least one output specification and an edit decision list stored on a server system. The proxy media editor receives a request for media output at the server system, the media output associated with an edit decision list stored on the server system. The proxy media editor renders, at the server system, the media output according to the output specification and the edit decision list. The proxy media editor delivers, from the server system, the media output via a media delivery channel compatible with the output specification. Thus, a user can create a single edited video composition in a hosted web-based environment which can dynamically meet the exact requirements of various delivery channels.

Abstract: An online media player provides mechanisms and techniques that allow for real-time edit decision list execution on streaming video to play back an edited video in an online environment. The online media player can request a digital media presentation from at least one server. The online media player can receive an edit decision list and a media effects set from the server, where the edit decision list is associated with the digital media presentation. The online media player can receive streaming media base data, associated with the digital media presentation, from a server. The client applies the edit decision list and upon the streaming media base data in real-time to create the digital media presentation. No file for the complete digital media presentation is fully-rendered and saved prior to play back.

Abstract: A technique is disclosed for facilitating electronic commerce and/or information exchange. The technique of the present invention enables a content provider to create a web space which can surface large amounts of product data into one single view. In addition, the display and layout of the web space may be dynamically customized. Further, if desired, customer specific data may be overlaid on product catalog data. In this way, customers are able to quickly grasp the extent of the virtual store and access products of interest by drilling-down on any single region of the store. Additionally, customer behavior patterns and activities may be tracked in real-time. This information may be used to enable a on-line merchant to respond appropriately, in real-time, in order to facilitate sales of merchandise to current on-line shoppers.

One feature of the described embodiment is the provision of a tiling of mini browsers in one space rather than a document.

Abstract: A web browsing environment that provides for visual and interactive mapping techniques to enable users to organize, visualize and navigate complex information spaces. The Urbanpixel system supports atomic units of information organized into a tiled browser environment. The system's mapping technology allows the information environment to be surfaced into a global, active map view. Because the system supports a process of data abstraction and the use of stylesheets to create multiple views, users can drill down on areas of interest to get views at multiple levels of detail and abstraction. The navigation model keeps a one-to-one spatial correspondence between the levels, making it easier for users to find their way around by providing spatial context at every level.

Abstract: The system described herein extends the server described in application Ser. No. 09/596,305 to allow the content of browser windows or the interaction of browser windows to affect other browser windows or to be affected by other browser windows. This system of linked browser windows allows intelligence to be added to the system specified in application Ser. No. 09/596,305. Changes affecting a browser window can now have ripple effects through the landscape for various uses, e.g., data can propagate more visibly, easily and transparently, “what-if” scenarios are possible, error and special conditions can be highlighted at a glance, etc.
