  • Publication number: 20120243159
Abstract: An outdoor broadband unit may be connected to an external portion of a customer premises. The outdoor broadband unit may include a radio frequency (RF) antenna to receive communications from a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) network and a printed wiring board. The printed wiring board may include an integrated circuit (IC) chip to implement a subscriber identity module (SIM) to provide services for the LTE network. The IC chip may be soldered to the printed wiring board and have a rated temperature range corresponding to an industrial grade or military grade integrated circuit. The IC chip may provide authentication services for the SIM using a hypertext transfer protocol secure (HTTPS) connection. The printed wiring board may further include a control module to implement an air interface for the LTE network. A radome may contain the RF antenna and the printed wiring board.

  • Publication number: 20120163202
Abstract: Interference, from fixed wireless terminals, communicating with, for example, an LTE network, can be intelligently reduced for nearby public safety networks. A fixed terminal may, for instance, determine a signal strength of radio signals from a public safety wireless network, and perform a threshold comparison of the signal strength to determine whether the fixed terminal is located in an edge area of a cell of the public safety wireless network. The fixed terminal may reduce transmission power, to the network of the fixed terminal (e.g., the LTE network), when the threshold comparison indicates that the device is located in the edge area of the cell of the public safety wireless network.

  • Patent number: 8208919
Abstract: A method for performing route optimization based on network enforced, and mobile implemented, policy. The method includes establishing, from a mobile device, a communication session with an access router; receiving, via the established communication session, a first IP address and a second IP address to be assigned to the mobile device; and receiving, at the mobile device, a set of rules. The method also includes evaluating, at the mobile device, at least one parameter of the communication session against the set of rules to determine to communicate with an external device using a selected one of the first IP address and the second IP address and communicating with the external device using the selected IP address as the address for the mobile device based upon a result of the evaluation.

  • Publication number: 20120147874
Abstract: Route optimization is based on a network enforced, and mobile implemented, policy. A communication session between a mobile device and an access router is established. First and second IP addresses to be assigned to the mobile device are received by the mobile device via the established communication session, as is a set of rules. The mobile device evaluates at least one parameter of the communication session against the set of rules to determine which of the IP addresses to use to communicate with an external device, and proceeds to communicate with the external device using the selected IP address based upon the evaluation result.

  • Publication number: 20120137019
Abstract: A system may include user equipment. The user equipment may determine a group of first Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) window size values based on different information relating to a wireless network, and determine a second TCP window size value based on the group of first TCP window size values. • Publication number: 20120040663
Abstract: A mobile device assists installation of an outdoor broadband unit on a customer premises. The device identifies one or more cell towers, associated with a broadband carrier, within a horizon of the customer premises. The device recognizes a connection with the outdoor broadband unit and receives, from the outdoor broadband unit and at multiple locations around the customer premises, RF signal readings of each of the one or more cell towers. The device provides, to a user, an indication of one or more optimal installation locations, based on the RF signal readings, for the outdoor broadband unit.

  • Publication number: 20120042345
Abstract: One or more network devices receive, at a location outside a customer premises, a broadband signal from a base station of a wireless network and a satellite television signal from a satellite antenna. The one or more network devices combine, at the location outside the customer premises, the broadband signal with the satellite television signal in a single coaxial cable and send, via the single coaxial cable, the broadband signal and the satellite television signal to one or more devices inside the customer premises.

  • Publication number: 20120034912
Abstract: A device monitors temperature readings from a sensor associated with an outdoor broadband unit. When the temperature readings increase above a stored threshold value, the device sends, to a device at a core network, an alert signal that invokes, at the core network, an emergency profile associated with the outdoor broadband unit. When the temperature readings decrease below the stored threshold value, the device sends, to the device at the core network, a normal signal that invokes, at the core network, a default profile associated with the outdoor broadband unit.

  • Publication number: 20120036541
Abstract: A device receives, from a content provider, traffic parameters associated with a video content request received from a fixed user device connected to a wireless access network, and determines, based on the traffic parameters, a trigger for creating a dedicated bearer for the fixed user device in the wireless access network. The device also provides the trigger to the wireless access network, where the wireless access network creates the dedicated bearer for the fixed user device based on the trigger, and the wireless access network assigns quality of service (QoS) parameters, based on the traffic parameters, to video content delivered to the fixed user device.

  • Publication number: 20110305222
Abstract: A communications system for providing a user's mobile station (MS) with an Internet Protocol (IP) connectivity, has an IP network gateway for allocating an IP address to the MS to enable it to access an IP network. First and second base stations are respectively configured to support communications of the MS over first and second radio access networks using different radio access technologies. A first access gateway provides an interface between the IP network gateway and the first radio access network, whereas a second access gateway provides an interface between the IP network gateway and the second radio access network. A handover interface is provided between the first access gateway and the second access gateway for enabling the MS to switch between the first and second radio access networks with minimum latency.

  • Patent number: 7652984
Abstract: A data communication system has security gateway redundancy for mobile terminal access. A first security gateway provides a first secured communications link between a first mobile user terminal and a telecommunications network over an intermediary network. A second security gateway provides a second secured communications link between a second mobile user terminal and the telecommunications network over the intermediary network. • Publication number: 20080304487
Abstract: A system for providing a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service has an Internet Protocol (IP) address detector for detecting an IP address assigned to a customer by an IP network during a VoIP communication session with the customer. An IP address database stores detected IP addresses. The IP address detector is configured for detecting a first IP address assigned to a customer during a first VoIP communication session with the customer, and for detecting a second IP address assigned to the customer during a second VoIP communication session with the customer. The second IP address is compared with the first IP address to produce an address change signal indicating a change in a physical location of the customer when the second IP address does not correspond to the first IP address.
